or the Mega ACn16/15/3 found here http://www.fxaeromodels.com/Motors/escs.htm towards the bottom of the page.
i was going to get the Astro Flight 020 but the place i tried to order from is waiting to recieve them form the suplier i ben waiting a couple weeks now and they might have them next week
im a little impatient though lol what do you guys think about the mega setup? its in stock and i can probably have it this week. and its cheaper

Hi Oosel!
I got my Hacker from Fitz at FX aeromodels. He knows what works and what doesn't, and if the Mega was not a good product, he wouldn't be selling it. I have read a lot of posts in the airplane threads that the Megas run just fine. I've only read a couple of heli posts, and now I can't find them.
One thing though, I'm pretty sure you're running a Corona with a Fusion motor. The Fusion has a 3.2 mm shaft, and the Mega is 5mm. You might want to find out where to get a different pinion, OR machine out the inner bore of the one you have.
Maybe try a "Corona Mega" search to see who's already done this.
For what it's worth,
Russ

I'm using the Mega 16/15/3 with the Phoenix 25 esc and I really like it. The Mega is a proven motor with the Corona, a LOT of Corona owners are using it with success. I have never heard of an issue with it. You can have the combo motor with esc from Roffee for 138$.
Just my 2 cents........Sylvain

Hi Again, Oosel!
Here's a link:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...ht=Corona+Mega
Our fellow heli pilot davidhnsocal has a post at the above link that he has retro'd a Mega and the shaft size was the same as the stock Fusion motor.
Anyway, read that thread and yes, the "Corona Mega" search phrase came up with almost two dozen results.

Hi Sylvain:
When I went to the FXAeromodels website, I thought I saw that the Hacker I bought had a 3.2mm shaft and the Mega that Oosel is looking at was a 5mm. It's been a long day, and I think my eyes are playing tricks on me!!
Thanks for the info. Oosel's on the right track.
Happy Choptering,
Russ

Mini-boy and Oosel,
How abou this for tweaking on the Mega?? and yes, the Mega 16/15/3 is 1/8" shaft, same as stock motors. Some of the Megas use larger shafts, so that's where the confusion comes from..

Hi Dave:
That looks like a belt drive setup you have there. Looks REAL SLICK!! I'll bet that reduces some gear whine ??
I think some of the glow guys think I'm nuts when I describe the audible rotor beat with electric power, and the absence of the scream uf the glow powerplant. Please tell me you can hear it too, and I'm not dreaming!!
And yes ... when cheking the Mega motors that Oosel was interested in, I was looking at the right Hacker and the WRONG Mega.
Sorry for bad info!!
What kind of flight times are you getting with the Mega, what ESC, batteries etc. Does the Mega have ball bearings? I would like to recommend a less expensive brushless motor than a Hacker. Although ... my Hacker has been flawless from the first minute. I also haven't heard any complaints about Mega's, just the CC ESC's, and I think that's all fixed by now (except for the old ones not sold yet at the LHS's ... hehe).
Happy Choptering,
Russ

Just so you know you're not dreaming Mini Boy, I hear the rotor beat also, especially when it is under me when i have flown too close in a landing :stupid: . I only just have problems hearing it over my canopy vibrating but I have yet to care about vibration.

Hi Colstonman!
Thanks for allowing me to sleep tonite. I was beginning to wonder if I was loosing it!
I assume yours is electric?
I am only familiar with .30 and .60 size glow heli's and all you can hear is the engine, even with a good muffler and no tuned pipe, there's NO way to even imagine hearing a rotor beat. I have never heard an LMH glow machine, so I have no idea what they sound like. The only thing I CAN say is
that from all the LMH pics I've seen, the characteristic glow engine smoke trail is absent.
What kind of canopy are you using?
I mounted the stock canopy on 4 points, with grommets, and have no noticeable noise.
Thanks again for the comments.

Mini-boy-
Yup, the Belt Drive sure did quiet things down. Now I hear the blades mostly, some of the motor whine, and the tail drive wire. I love the sound of the blades. The Dave Drive also has a one way bearing, so it makes a pretty cool noise after you set down and chop the throttle, kind of a swooshing sound as the head slows down.
Very Quiet. I am able to talk on the phone, and hover at the same time...
Soon, I will upgrade to the CF tail boom with bearings, that ought to kill the TR noise.
I have old crappy batts, but the 8 cell 2400 gives me between 10 and 11 minutes, even though it typically only accepts 2000mAh on the charge.
To be continued..

Yes, the Mega is BB on both sides of the shaft. No Complaints on the Mega.
I am using the CC Phoenix 35, newest version from www.roffeetvhobby.com It was $180 shipped overnight to my door, COD. I think the combo is usually around $150, $130 if you go to the 25A ESC. I LOVE the CC ESC. It is good and solid, and the service is GREAT. I called them, and the owner got on the phone and helped me pin down a bad RX that was causing the ESC to shutdown for about .5 seconds a couple of times per flight. Since then, not a glitch in sight.
For a while, CC was offering free upgrades on the older ESC, maybe call and ask them (the new version has two circuit boards instead of one).
As for the Dino powered LMH.. I thought they don't really have an exhaust, more like a little tube that spews oil onto the main gear, which then re-distributes the oil on anything within 20 ft. I imagine that would be really loud!
Another BD shot.. From a friends stock Corona..

For even more info, you should check out the other sites as well. There is another site, www.rcgroups.com that has a lot of good info in it, same as RCuniverse..

Hi Dave!
If your getting 10 minutes on 2000 MaHrs, you're doing very well!! I'm diong 10 to 11 miutes with 2600's that actually charge up to 2900 MaHrs!
I am expecting to build another Corona in the Fall, and I will be interested in your belt drive setup. I will also be hoping to go with LiPoly's. I'm kind of watching the pricing on the LiPo's AND the subsequent availability of a reliable charger for the LiPo's, and hopefully the NiMh's, NiCd's also. I have a hot s::t charger now, but it won't do LiPo's ... AAarrrggghhhh!!!!
The electric power advancements over the past 2 or 3 years have certainly been amazing, and have changed the face of R/C modeling forever. I wonder what'll be going on in 10 years ... scary?
Hoverup, who has been very quiet the last month or so (maybe on vacation) said the carbon fiber boom & ball bearings was one of the best mods he did to his Corona. If I remember correctly, it eliminated some noise and vibration that everyone seems to comlpain about, and can't really put their finger on the source!
Well, gotta run to the market and get some Windex and paper towels ................................
.................................................
gotta get some windows done
(kidding)
Keep up the good work, and Happy Choptering.
