Well, it happened to me tonight. It was a bit too windy and I should have known better. A gust of wind got the Corona a little high on me and I pulled the throttle a bit too much trying to get the nose pointed back away from me. It wasn't really a crash but it was a bit of a hard landing that caused a boom strike. I had the presence of mind to give full forward cyclic just before it hit but maybe it wasnt soon enough. The tail boom is cracked and so is the TR gearbox. I have an extra tail boom but not a gearbox. I've read a few suggestions from the archives that discuss repairs using fiberglass or JB Weld. I'd like to give it a try. I'm completely inexperienced working with fiberglass but I have lots of experience with JB Weld. You should know that this will be the second repair to the gearbox. The first was a small crack at the top and was repaired with CA. That repair actually held but a new and longer crack developed on the left side.
Any suggestions, tips or comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
