Hi-lo?..

Linkage?

If not the engine, or a binding drivetrain, it's got to be one of those..

Aha!! Check your grub screws in the middle driveshafts.. They are a usual suspect. They need to be threadlocked. This minor issue has caused lots of panic over the years, but can be solved very easily with a little drop of blue threadlock.. Check all four.. (one in front of rear diff, one on each side of the transmission, one in front of front diff...)

Slipper nut was a good call.. Should normally be all the way in, then for me anyway 3/4 of a turn out..

Check the grub screws? Also, turn on the radio and receiver, but not the engine, and push the truck back and forth on the ground.. - including holding the rear wheels up off the ground, then the front, apply gas, break, let it roll in neutral, etc.. Everything free?

Check your brake linkages? I have mine so that under full throttle, there is no brakes applied, but as the throttle linkages return to neutral some brake is applied, A drag brake of the sorts. Does your engine get up to full revvs?

the tool you need to change clutch shoes is a small screwdriver.

the tool you need to take the bell off is a pair of pliers to hold the flywheel.

What you need as already stated is a pair of channel lock pliers, and a (I believe) 10mm wrench. Hold the flywheel with a pliers and use the wrench to back the nut off the flywheel. Tap on the end of the crankshaft with a piece of soft wood (I use a pine 1x2) and the flywheel should right off. Though the stock clutch in the LST2 trucks is more than adequate for the average basher IMHO. I use the stock 3-shoe clutch with the long-life clutch shoes in both of my LST2's.

I use 1.1mm springs on the SH .28p6, and 1.0mm springs on the Mach 427.

The "plug thing" I think you're referring to is called a piston stop but I would never use one on a model engine. The risk of marring the glow plug threads and possibly punching a hole in the piston steers me away from using something like that.

Just my 2-cents.

The clutch shoe tool is only around $9 on amain.com  worth the small investment.

bah.. $9 for the tool, plus shipping for a tool you dont need. I install my clutch shoes with the same screwdriver I use for adjusting the needles. Works perfect, and I've never broke a clutch spring yet.

I got mine when I got a bunch of parts so shipping was not a issue that and looking back it was less than $9.    Now I just need to get new shoes and bell for my rebuild to get it moving.

I use Dynamite long-life aluminum shoes. I've got 2-3 gallons on the newer set and probably 4-5 gallons on the older set which is pretty close to the clutch spring wires. I'll be hitting the LHS this weekend for a few parts, so I too am going to get some new clutch shoes and springs.
