Default Custom machined CVD axle

Hi there, yesterday i took out the rear left cvd and one of the end of the pin was broken, i took it to a machinist and replaced the pin with a carbide tungten ones for only USD$1.00!, later i asked him if he can machine a new CVD made from carbide tungsten, just today he sent me the machined CVD, it looks impressive! and he asked for $10 only!, i can say that carbide tungsten is a very tought material. Later i'll post some pics

Dam someone stole my idea before i managed to get the truck to try it on. Isnt tungsten carbide quite heavy though? and thats a lot cheaper than i thought it would be, im sure theres lots of other parts you could get made like that, u mite aswell since they are pretty cheap.

Yah, its a bit heavier, but its very strong, much stronger than stock and MIP ones. As for replacing stock parts with carbide tungsten, i'd prefer to replace only parts from the driveline since they need to be strong.

Well I am a machinist myself and there are much better materials for this aplication carbide is NOT a good application your most likly going to break it since carbide is very brittle it doesn't take shock very well also it will wear out the other metals it is running with. If you wana do that and make some nice stuff use some 4340 Chromoly its what the auto industrie uses to make high strength alloy axle shafts. just a heads up. no doubt carbide is tough just not the best app.

Mmm talking to the machinist, he told me the material used for my CVD was stainless steel, not carbide tungsten, today ii tested it, no problems after running my lst.
