Default CNR Hexes

I got my set of CNR hexes, but I have a problem. It seems that I'm breaking the drive pin alot. When I take the hexes off pieces of the pin fall right out, like the pin broke in 2 or 3 pieces. I thought it may be due to my SH .28, but my buddy's truck was doing the same thing with the stock engine. Anyone else having this problem?

I broke several of the drive pins and started buying generic pins from the hardware store and they also broke. I got 3/32 piano wire from Small Parts.com and they seemed to be working perfectly until my Mach blew up. I had to cut them to length but they also can be made for the axle drive pins. Good luck

I actually did the same thing and haven't had a problem at all. Just curious to see if me and my buddy were the only ones.

Have anyone seen the new hexes from hot racing? they have a locking hex screw to prevent the hexes to come off when you change wheels

I'll definitely be checking that when I get home. Any idea on the size of the shim? I'm just going straight to my LHS after work, so I'll just pick some up while I'm there.

I keep saying this.....is your slipper tightened down? Theres alot of torque on those tiny pins,,,,,give them some give....The plastic hexes do also give some. I stopped using alloy hexes.

Nothing wrong with my slipper, it's a full turn out. I'll have to check the shim idea, I have heard them break when I crank the axle nut down.

Well, I've only heard it once, but you're most likely correct. I'll pick some shims up ASAP. Thanks.

I just installed a set of CNR hexes and did not hear my pins break as I snugged down the wheels. I did use a bunch of locktite on the wheel nuts just to be safe. They look nice. Hope they work well.
