45 min to an hour seems like a lot to me. They do make chargers for receiver bats you know? I usually charge mine after every bash session or just before the 30min main when I'm racing.

RE: receaver pack life
I use a 1400mah flat pack underneath. After a 5 min qualifier (with a min or two warm up), I've used about 240mah. To do 3 qualifiers without a charge is no problem, but no way would I have enough power left to do even a 15 min main. Note that I also have dual Airtronics 94359's and the Spektrum DSM rx - all of which will drain more power than stock.

It'sall in the chargers guys....OEM chargers are the PITS.......Traxxas, HPI....WHOEVER.....check this out
http://nitroobsession.proboards79.co...ead=1138550372
I took an 1100mah OEM Traxxas pack, that had deteriorated down to 6 minute charge lives..yeah SIX MINUTES.....and cycled it twice on a Triton charger, 1.5a discharge, and 1.5a charge....that same pack will now last thru over 1/2 GALLON of fuel! At least 2 HOURS of run time....

I wish I could get run times like that. I use a Duratrax Ice charger, and my 1400mah pack holds a charge slightly higher than that. With a 240 (or so) mah drain for 7 minutes of run time, the most you can get is about 30 minutes with a 1400mah pack. I've made sure that the steering servos aren't fighting each other, and I switched over to Dean's plugs. I don't know what more I could do!

kliff, the problem with your numbers is that means you are using less than 550 MAH per hour. That would also mean very low draw servos and not using the throttle or steering very much. With dual high torque servos and driving around a race track those numbers are not possible with an LST.

Still, an hour of run time is good for an LST. One of the battery suppliers do a dual battery set up, (one under the tank and the other underneath). That'll get you more than an hour.
The truth is a 1400mah packs are cheap enough to have a few, (I keep a few anyway) and it takes less than 5 minutes to swap a battery and carry on playing.

You probably won't be able to get 3000mah batteries to fit as the only size capacity that high are sub C's (And LiPo's). They would be too big and heavy to be useful. Mounting them would be difficult. You would have a better chance of a similar capacity LiPo - but the mounting would still have to be custom.
The 2500 mah referred to above are AA's. The stock batteries are 2/3A (Right?). The highest capacity 2/3 A that I have found are 1400mah. 2 packs in parallel would double your run time if you have the stock tank.
It is possible to put 1 pack in the stock location (under the truck) and the other under the groove in the stock tank.
