Default Engine question

I just ran a few tanks of few through my LST2, it was running pretty good. About 230 with the body off and maybe 260 with the body on. It gets hotter as the tank drains. Is this normal? Also, I ran last night and it seemed set fine but then today I had to lean it out alot more just to get it back to the 220 range or so. Is it normal to have to tune it every day? I live in south florida, the temperature does not change that much day to day.

Yes, it is normal for it to lean out as the tank gets lower - ie the temps will go up. Sometimes you have to change the tune from day to day (that also depends on the engines...some "hold" a tune better then others....ie on some carbs, the hsn and lsn will vibrate and move a little....that is why OS engines "hold a tune" so well...the needles do not move). Humidity changes will also have an affect on your tune....stay with it...you will start to feel what needs to be done

Humidity and temp change your tune, these engines are nothing like a car or motorcyle. Cars nowadays have efi and tuned port injections systems which change the fuel mixture stettings when need be on its own. I am into off road motorcycles and as the seasons change I have to raise/lower the clip on my needle and adjust the fuel mixture to get it to run properly. But the nitro rc engines are even worse than that, there is no setting and forgetting with these engines (although I hear the orion crf rev is bringing that closer to reality) whatsoever. If you took your truck out in the morning and tuned it perfect when it was a little cooler and as the day went on it warmed up towards noon, you are gonna have to adjust the needles. They are super sensitive to ambient temps, some more than others but for the most part this is going to be regular practice. Every time you run your truck you will have to adjust your needles, unless of course you live somewhere that the temps and all that never change.

But get used to tuning, the more you do it the better you get, and there is no getting out of it. Pretty soon you'll be able to do it blindfolded.
