Stronger Steering Servos?
These JR 590's just don't cut it for the LST2. I know the truck is big and the tires are too but I need stronger steering servos. I have "one" JR 650 in my Revo and that works very well, it'll jerk the wheels back n' forth with ease sitting still. Do you guys think 2 JR 650's would do the trick for the LST2? Does anyone use the JR 650's? If not what do you guys use for steering servos? I don't wanna get the most expensive ones out, but I want something that will do the trick well. I don't really want 500 oz of torque but what does it take to turn the wheels sitting still? Any ideas???

RE: Stronger Steering Servos?
I put two Hitec 645mg's in mine. They're like $40 each and have been good so far but I have not run them very mnuch yet. I've also got one in my Savage and it's been trouble free for over a year. Two of those will give you 266oz of torque total. I am considering adding another rx pack though because high torque servos are pretty power hungry

I put two JR9000T's in mine @ $100.00 a piece. I never have to worry about servo troubles though. Servo's might just be one of the most important items on your vehicle. It is a good idea to have as bullet proof as you can.

Nice! Hows the battery life? Did you notice any extra drain?

RE: Stronger Steering Servos?
I knew ahead of time that I was going to have much more battery drain because of the digital servos. They draw way more battery than thier non digital counterparts. I had also wanted to upgrade my battery for longer runs between recharging. I went with a 1320 mAh 2C LiPo. This upgrade also required that I use a voltage regulater. Novak makes a nice one. With this set-up, I get about 3 hours of "on" battery time while racing.

Could you post a pic of that setup? Like your mounting location? How well protected it is, and such. Or PM me with it, so we dont jack this thread entirely.

ThermalRD, don't hijack my thread man! LOL I'm kidding! These are things I have to think about so I'd love to see the setup Marzac2 has also. If I'm gonna put better servos in they're gonna rob battery life so I gotta figure this stuff out too. I'll probably go analog just because it's a Monster Truck and I don't race. But I definitely would love to hear more, I really don't care where it leads.

RE: Stronger Steering Servos?
Jason does it get the wheels around at a stand still? Seems like I'm just wanting more steering out of this LST2. I have my radio dialed in so I know I'm getting all she's got but I'm beggin' her for more and she's not givin' it up. I'm interested in hearing more about the 650's. How are they on the track? How are they on the battery life? Notice a difference?

I run dual air 358's. Very good steering action and battery life is not an issue...I can get at least 90 minutes of run time on a single charge - plenty strong at 200oz each, quick, center great, and have a great feel to them...hard to explain it

RE: Stronger Steering Servos?
I am running two JR DS8611 digital servos attatched to MGT servo savers and it will turn the tires on carpet at a stand still no problem (260oz of torque a piece), but in your thread you have linked ZAC you tell one of the other members to use the rubber servo mounts, i tried doing that after i got into an accident, but the savers and steering links wont clear the skid plate or something like that ( i cant remeber what doesnt clear, i just remeber it didnt fit with the rubber mounts). So are you using the rubber mounts?
And finally, what lipo pack are you running and does it fit real well? Man i wish Orion made one of those real slick hard cased packs that would fit right in the LST's battery compartment! That would make things real easy!
