Default RE: Muggy Pro!!!

I can't imagine how you could possibly race with yellow springs on a Muggy.

I've been running Werks clutches since I got my LST in late 04' with outstanding results but my Werks clutch did not last long in the Muggy platform.

If you purchase 'Rc raven aluminum braided fuel lines 19.95 ' before you own a set of the LOSI -15 degree caster hubs, well that does not make sense to me.

If you are going to run RPM a-arms you should get a set of Lundsford 40mm Ti links at the same time.

I am running the stock shock bodies.

I would get a 12t clutch bell to get the gearing more inline for R/C dirt track racing.

Just my thoughts.

Default RE: Muggy Pro!!!

My order of upgrades for the Muggy are:
(for racing do RocketRon's setup)
1. Fironi (spelling) clutch (I run carbon shoes with 2 HD springs)
2. Single High Torque Servo
3. 12T vented clutchbell (Muggy is over geared)
4. MT, MTR, Maxx or GRP racing sized rubber.
5. -15 degree castor hubs from LOSI
6. Bump start backplate and single piece engine mount. (you will need a starterbox)

My opinions on your list, all my opinion of course...

Rpm A-arms balck x4 -- I have these but have not installed them
Rpm arm adapter
Vertigo Performance single 3mm carbon fiber disk brake x2 -- I still have stock brakes
MONSTER S-1600 - I bought a extra stock from ebay for $12 I stick it in for mains and use the other for quals.
OFNA Picco .28 engine -- learn to drive with the stocker, it has plenty of power
12t clutch vented -- should be top of the list
New Era blue aluminum C hub -- waste of $$ get LOSI -15 degree caster version
New Era blue aluminum steering knuckles -- I've broken one, by hitting a fence at WOT, still run stock
New Era LST2 silver aluminum rear knuckles -- complete waste of money, no added benefit at all, just dead weight
Air Cleaner -- no added benefit, stocker is fine
HD Alum Clutch Shoes & Springs, Gold: MUG -- same as stock, will fail quickly
Vantage Racing carbon fiber 1/8 pipe -- my stock pipe has worked well with a RB-C6, LRP Spec III, Mach427 and a modded Mach .26

2d races his muggy more than most of us and does well. Any advice he gives you is spot on. You want a good motor for a god price, here is link.
http://www.speedtechnitro.com/ebprod...nid=68&id=6973

The losi 15 degree casters he recomends improve the handleing alot. A Vented CB is a must, either 12 or 13 tooth. But you definately need a clutch. Fironi seem to last longest but HPI makes a purple aluminum clutch that I have run for 6 gallons. Here is another clutch that people recomend and even team losi suggest
http://www.speedtechnitro.com/ebprod...id=632&id=7446

I have the rpm arms. If I got them again, I would only do the front as I have taken all the camber out of the rear.

If you are looking to make a solid racers at a budget, here is what I would do.

1. 12 tootch vented clutchbell and 1 of the three clutches mentioned.

2. Tires, switch to maxx size or MTR, You will need to convert to 17mm hubs. I recomend hpi 17mm hubs and a set of HPI nubz tires. They are good grip om allmost any track. And they come pre-glued

3. a good single stearing servo, I did a JR 8550

4. Use stocker motor till you get used to truck, its plenty of power and speed. If you want to switch, I would go to axial and get the $20 backplate to convert it to bump start and use a starter box. The sportwerks 1 piece motor mount is low enouph to do this, but I had to dremmel one little spot to get flywheel to clear the mount. Losi makes a mount also, but I had converted already before it came out.

After that, you have a solid truck that can hold its own anywhere. Anything else is just optional. I did RPM arms, and a new pipe. Both 2d and I have TQ'd at local tracks with our muggys against the high dollor jammins and Kyoshos

Kyosho kid you really DONT need a different engine. Have you even worn out the stocker? I have had a couple mach 427s/SW .26 and they make plenty of power even in the LST. As said before 2D's info should be spot on as driven these truck ALOT!

Default RE: Muggy Pro!!!

I just bought a Muggy and like it but I am having a problem with the motor not staying aligned. It keeps moving on me so that the CB does not contact the spur gear. Is there a fix to this or am I just doing something wrong? I try to get it tight. Also what can I do to get this thing to jump out of the hole? I watch other truggies and buggies and the seem to be alot quicker out of the hole( out of the turns and from a stop). Is there any way to get my Muggy to do this without getting a new motor? Another question is which spring have you run with thw HPI clutch shoes, the stiffer or lighter ones? Sorry so manny questions but I am trying to get this thing to run really strong.
