August - Sucks
#1

Well it's the middle of August and the evenings are getting noticeably shorter. 9:15 pm and the sun as set. In 4-5 weeks time, it'll be next to impossible to fly in the evenings. I have to move further north.

Well Jim... this is the way of the world, time moves on, seasons change and in the winter we move into the basement workshop to cure the ills that befell us throughout the summer.
BUT!
If you do indeed wish to continue flyng in the evenings... there are options;
1. Fly foamies indoors,
2. Simulators on your PC,
3. Put skiis on you planes and fly off the snow,
4. Move to Arizona and fly year round!
Decisions, decisions...

I have the Realflight simulator. Not quite the same. Yes,I have to decide what to build this fall for next spring. I to try indoor flying this fall at the golf dome.

Considering that we might have a blizzard and 5-10 cm of snow. August wasn't to bad at all.

Hang in there Jim. You get another August again this year. Hope it goes better for you.
We have been fortunate enough to have our landowner plows our entire strip all winter. We have been flying everything off of wheels, up to 120cc all season.

Snuts, impressive models. Need more room to store a model of that size. I believe Calgary's weather faired better than Winnipeg's the last few months. It should be +2° C today but it's -20°. Blizzard conditions expected for tonight and tomorrow.

Jim, we are about 8" deep this week-end, cold. A good-old dungeon week-end, sniff'n glue. But everybody is pumped this year. A large number of airframes coming for this season. It sure helpped the enthusiasm over the winter. Our lttle club grew tighter, rather than hibernating. One of the best groups I have ever been involved with.
