I was on Ebay looking for some spare parts when I came upon this Tamiya to H.L. battle adaptor. It comes out of australia. Has anyone seen this or have any thoughts. Sorry I don't know how to make this address a click and go.

There seems to be no mention of what type of apple must be used. The HL emitter and receiver operate in a different wavelength than the Tam. Would you need one of each?

there is also nothing on the different classes of tanks...fire rates and allowed hits.....but if this comes togather and it works out of the box, i am going to buy a 6 pack of them....

This is nothing ground breaking. Basically RTR DBC with less features. It is an option , but a very limited one from what I understand.
Before I bought one here is the questions I would ask myself
Does it and slow down the drive motors as hits are registered. If it doesn't then it will not be well received by the estabilshed IR battle community?.
Does it provide different weight classes.?
Does it accept a Tamiya apple?
If the answer was yes to the above three questions, then I would consider this a viable option. If it does not then I would caution you this device may be taking you down a dead end path that will become an island of users. I am all for more choices, but this hobby needs to be careful that we get some standards set so manufacturers have someting to design and build to to ensure complete compatiblibily between systems. Otherwise I just view this development as something else to fragment an already small group.

good points....personally I'm not into IR battling, but would LOVE a serious sound upgrade module that didn't require also purchasing all the IR stuff as well...something just plug-&play....... maybe one day lol..

So after reading that it confirms there is no tank classes or battle damage, so the only thing that is Tamiya compatible is the IR beam.

It seems that this may be ok for the casual battler, it will not be allowed in most or any organized Tamiya competition battles.<div> As far as being good for bringing in new people to the hobby it really could cause some confusion as to how true systems that compete work.</div><div>For it's price it may have a positive effect but limited.</div><div>

I think itmight be purfect for n00b's that need a loner..I have been kicking around the idea of getting a kv1 and a dbu for a loner....but with the $150 for the dbu and the $130ish for the kv1 that might be a bit much...

Well that's the first time someone has wanted to build a tank just too loan out to non tank owners. A commendable goal. A little bit of caution may be in order here. We have seen a couple of guys come and go in our club because they would show up and use tanks we loaned them, Some on the very high line of build up just to be driven like a 6 year old's toy. Little respect or care for others property.
Maybe this is the way to go. Build a low cost vehiclt for this purpose with no real loss if something goes wrong.
This maybe just the way to go with this in mind.
I have always been happy to let a new guy run my tanks. Even my very expensive Tamiya Panther g and others I have quite a bit of money pored into. I have just the right tank here for this type of set up so i may just give it a go.
