Outofcontrol41,
You've taken your plane to a much higher level in detail than I intend to take my Ag-Cat; I'm really impressed and envious. Maybe I should send it over in a moving van in a couple of years for your finalization. I'm heading out of town toomorrow. I'll start posting my progress on this thread on the Ag-Cat.

Outacontrol - That looks really great - well done! Now the question - has it flown yet?

Gtarling,
Due to the amount of work I have in it, it will be a 'Hangar Queen' for approx. 8 months to a year. For now it will make all the fun fly events locally and static display events such as mall shows. The span of time will also help me forget just how much time I spent building it. Yes, it will fly....just not right now. I have to iron the spray / smoke system before it takes to the air. I'll probably post a short video clip on YouTube when I fly it, but for now I've put the plane aside because I'm a little burned out from looking at it so much. I'm going to assemble a couple of ARF's to cool down before my next major build project.

Again....
.....thanks one and all. It's the love for agplanes that really drove me to put that much detail into it. I had my Flair kit, a 1/4 scale Stearman PT-17 for a little over a year before I maidened her....also very detailed....and tension and fear was gone by then, and I was much more confident flying her. I had no doubt that the PT-17 would be a great flyer, but to prevent the shakey thumb thing, I just had to wait. It's a psychological thing I guess - did I spell that right? Well, you know what I mean. I had to get my head screwed on tight for the first flight....and forgotten the hours and hours of work. I wonder if this works for others besides me? I've done my Pawnee thing....now there's another guy around these parts who has the exact same Pawnee short kit as me. You're next, Jeff28, to decorate these pages with a 1/4 scale pawnee. The 'big boy'....planes like these you only see in Europe where rc models tend to be bigger overall. I gotta say, though, scaling her up was fun and basically easy because of the large size.

Sorry you misunderstood, What I did was cut a milk jug down for the top of the tank. The filler is for connecting to a future smoke tank in the fuse. We had some discussion in the past about how to make the simulated tank.
Inside plumbing will be straight forward according to Sullivan when I install.

Outaconrol41 - My congrats again on a job well done , you have raised the bar for the rest of us. Your not the only one who has a "cooling down" period after building one of the monsters. I like to wait a while to let the memory of countless hours and dollars fade away a bit before taking the plunge. Our club has 2 test pilots who will do the maiden flight for those of us less experianced. Generally they will do the take off and get it trimmed and then hand it over. I've only got 3 years under my belt so I Fly with the test pilot with a Buddy box for the first flight on a new plane. These guys are worth their weight in gold having brought many a model back in one piece that in lesser hands would have made good starter for the wood stove. I'm pretty realistic about my skills and am not afraid to ask for help with a new plane. As for the Air Tractor it will be done for our annual mall show in March (hopefully) and then off to the field to work out all the kinks with the help of the test pilot. Then wait for the memory to subside.!! What';s up next ?? Gonna do a H9 Ultra Stick 40 ARF for a knock around plane and then I'll take the plunge with the TMRC Pawnee. Will post some pictures of the Air Tractor as it nears completion. Keep up the posts !!

During my 'cooling down' period I've got a few lightweight projects in mind, too. One of them made a rather sudden appearance into my shop within the last month or so. I found it on another rc classified network on the internet one day....the price was right, so I grabbed it. I didn't really want to mention it until my new plane was finished and made it's debut outing here on RC Universe. It's a fixer upper but it has great potential. here are a couple of pics....can you guess what it is?[sm=confused_smile.gif]

mcf,
Not an ARF. This is a scratch built plane from Dick Graham plans. It's a replica of the the red and white one I just finished building....only mine is flawless in comparison
. Same size, same everything with a few minor differences....mainly structural. A lot of things will have to be rebuilt or at least modified to pass the outacontrol tight inspection. Such as....the wing struts, incomplete, they need sub supports. The canopy....built slightly off center, easy fix. Tail section....weak...needs improvement. Needs a paint job and some splashy but true to scale graphics. Looks like I'm open ended on what year and graphic package I decide on. Whatever I decide, it won't be that bright urine yellow!!!![sm=52_52.gif][:'(]
Still deciding on engine and spray system. I may even build the scale hopper system and use actual dust in some way. Gotta think about it.......[sm=confused.gif]

Outacontrol - Sad to hear that your Pawnee won't be flying for some time, but I can understand your feelings with the amount of work you put into it. I have a couple of questions about your build if you wouldn't mind helping me out a bit - can I PM you with them?
