Curious about your programmer...

Why'd you have to send it back in?

I love mine but lately it shows some extra characters in the display. it still works O.K. but is kindof unnerving...

DTB, got any string trimmer line laying around? That, a drill bit, and some CA works OK. If not I do. If Hitec ever sends my programmer back we can cycle your servos on it.

OK I know I'm new to this thread but even I get the point. The Funtana 90 has a defect ! ? ! ?. Well so did my H9 Edge (Rudder was not straight not to mention the original wings that snaped but were replaced free of charge) and my Lanier Edge (the crappy way the wings are held on) and my Pacific Aero Edge has a pretty sorry landing gear set up, my Twist wing wasnt perfect either OH & the landing gear block in my Funtana 40 just jumped right out of there. Man all my planes are ate up with defects & thats not the 1/2 of them.

In this hobby I figure if your not going to build it your self your taking a chance anyway so deal with it. The only planes I have that are defect free ARE THE ONES I BUILT MYSELF and you definatly cant build them for the price we pay for the ARF's !!!!

Lets all give it up & move on to bigger & better things.

I used aluminum strut material (LHS) across the bottom 3/8''- used small screws to bolt on as well small sheet metal in the bottom of fuse. It is working ok in my funtana 40. On the top laced Teflon coated line in two places from horizontal stabilizer through stab . Tried to keep it as light as possible.

Thanks Bentgear, let me know when it comes in. We can cycle them with your programmer. I was going to use my cycle program on my 9C, but if the programmer will do it, then that works for me. Would that be a bad way to do it using the 9C? Never had to cycle servos before.

Thanks Steve, do you have any photos of your setup? I would really like to see the setup to get a visual of it.

Thanks,

Yes RS we will be hearing more and more of this, This is why I am here. I am glad you had enough guts to admit it here! Well guys what you think about that? Here is ANOTHER ONE. That makes like 8 I have read so far!

Well instead of blaming it on the pilots why accept that there is something wrong with the plane? Well ok then...Time will tell like it is doing now.....!
Hey did I tell you that the Funtana .90 had a defect in it?

Well off to finish building my plane. I had to wait for dsome glue to dry. Now I can go back and finish! Talk to you losers later..... Remember what I told you....

Maudib, it would cycle any servo hooked to it, except a Hitec digital and it wouldn't program them.

And speaking of digital servos I changed out the JR811 I had on the rudder yesterday for a Hitec 5945 to see if it was rudder blowback (didn't think so) or lack of engine power preventing knife edge loops. Not servo related. Hope the YS 110's get off backorder soon.

Ed, If your programmer won't cycle Hitecs, then we can't cycle my servos. I have Hitec HS-5645MG Digital Servos. I guess the cycle mode on the radio would have to do. I haven't heard anything yet on the YS 1.10FZ either. This Friday will be 1 month for me, but I am in no rush. Still got a few things to get yet.

Have you talked to David Clack about what happened to Mike?

bentgear, refresh my memory...what engine / prop are you using and where's your CG? Even with the 'wrong' prop (15x4W) my Saito 100 has enough power to KE loop the plane easily.

TT2, he has a YS .91AC I think instead of the FZ with a APC 16x4. I can't remember the exact CG, but it is ahead of the recommended if I remember correctly. I'm sure he will respond with that. The plane flys great. He has it setup great. Landings are hands off literally. I have it on film, but I don't have the software to upload it to the computer. It hovers, harriers, knife edges, blenders, etc... great. I have done all this with his plane. The YS .91AC is fine, but a YS 1.10FZ would be great. That is why we both have a YS 1.10FZ coming for the planes.

Thanks Steve, but I can't see the photo. You can e-mail it to me if you like. I can upload it for you so that everyone can see it.

I really appreciate it.

Well.. I've got 20+ flights on mine now.. and it's still just a blast to fly. I put a 16x4 on the YS 1.10 which I know is a bit light.. but I never use full throttle except in emergency punchouts from hovers and such.. but I really like the quick spool time. I does overrev the YS if I'm not VERY careful..

I really threw some rough 3D at it today and it just did it without complaint. Harrier rolling circle that rolls so quick I'm still not sure how I kept up with it.. hehe. Full throttle blenders (throttle added AS I went full deflection on rudder/elevator... NOT during the dive) and I was treated with a quick transition to a climbing flat spin. I think I popped a tail support brace loose on the last one.. elevator felt a bit funny so I landed and one was loose. This prompted another thought.. if at ANY time when you flying.. not just the Funtana but ANY airplane, but any time the airplane feels strange.. LAND.. right away. Check it out.

Tom, like DTB typed its a YS 91 AC. Currently have a 15 x 4W on it as I ran out of 30% for the 16 x4W. CG is at 7 1/8 now, but thats not the problem. Lacks the power to carry it around, unless I want to settle for a 30 foot knife edge loop, even then its not pretty. If I had another cowl setting here I think I would put the Saito 100 in there just to see what it would do while I wait on the 110.

Hmm...you might be (pleasantly) surprised how much a further-aft CG would help. Can't hurt to try! I know what you're saying though...takes lots of power at the bottom of a KE loop no matter what. When I pumped my Saito and pulled the muffler off it made a world of difference in KE authority...but the CG didn't change that much. You're going to love the YS! I kinda wish I'd have gone that route...but my Saito is fine...not outstanding, but fine. A 30 foot KE loop is TIGHT!

Tom, I am planning to puch the CG back a bit after I get the 110 installed and fly it a bit. Wanted to leave everything the same so I could see the exact difference the engine made.

Doug, have not tried to locate one yet but I understand APC now makes a 17 x 4W prop. Seems that would be a match for the 110.

Doug never said I used nothing but JR. The cheapest stuff in RC today! That is why the plane probably had a problem in the first place. I am not bashing you I am stating fact that the JR crap is just that crap especially the radios!

Dougie. I though you blocked me? What is wrong? I have more people that believe that same as I do. JR is crap. Go ahead and try to make me look bad. I know what I said... I have not changed anything. I stated I used Futaba on the other control surfaces.. The wings were the problem and JR was there in the the wing..So.....
That is the way I feel and I have seen many here in my club get rid of all their JR products and change to Futaba. The 9C radio and their servos are the best and are eating JR's lunch. Not bashing... just fact. You can tell everyone I am the worse person in the world...That won't change the cheaply made JR products. Everyone around here is selling JR and buying Fuitaba. Don't blame them. I have pictures that showed the JR's were in the wing from start to the JR Funtana failure. We all know here. careless what you think We know. Everyone that was there saw and knows.....

Oh I forgot to say good morning...Wonderful day isn't it? Hope it is where you are. man I have got several days flying in! What fun!

Hey did I mention that the Funtana .90 has a defect in it? Either that or JR...

Thought I would share that. I hope that the guys that are offended by this will block me out of their forum. Thanks in advance.

Not trying to make you mad. Just stating my opinion which is my right. Right? Or did I wake up in Red China this morning? Hummm Funtana....China......Could it be a conspiracy? That is where they have sweat shops and put the planes together for $3.00 and we resell them for $200.00 ! Wow isn't this a great greedy country?
