Okay everyone those tents may have been shiny with pretty colors. (I kept looking for hte cotton candy and candy apple salesman but never found one.)
However those tents all survived Friday's storm with flying colors (no pun intended)
Friday's afternoon storm was a prelude to Florida hurricane season.
A nice afternoon watching a few flights then hunger set in and off for a trip to KFC after I set up my tent.
A very heavy down pour started with strong winds. Started to drive out of KFC and saw several cars just parked in the downpour getting off the highway. Seemed like the smart thing to do, until the van started rocking and getting pelted with hail for a good 5 minutes. Sat there a good 20 minutes before driving back to the field. This is the results of what I saw upon return. My tent had blown about 100 yards until it was saved from crossing the runway by impaling itself on a wrought iron spike of the safety fence.[&o]

After the rain stopped we all started damage assessment........then the scavenging for parts began...The vultures swooped down with wrenches in hand.
We could definately tell who the builders were as the dissassembly and patching began!

Here is "The John" Burdin getting ready to go up with his Boomerang.
He is assisted by another "John" Banner. These two flew quite a bit this weekend considering they were also running around keeping things organized with Steve.
