Savex new F-16
#679

Painting takes lots of time. I'm trying to do the tiger meet scheme.
I did the grey and yellow coats. Now is time to do the stripes...
James, those masks are perfect.

Just a question to you guys out there flying L39and F16 ,i am flying 2 L39,s at present one std 44 ,one with a new gold pod start very happy with both ,the Gold is ballistic giving unlimited vertical ! ,
whats the general impression with the F16 against the L39 ?,thinking of buying one as a winter project, but is it worth it ?,advantages/disadvantages ,flying speeds etc.

Yann,
Back from hols, Glad the paint masks are working for you...iDo you have any more pics yet?
Haven't touched my F16 yet, hoping to out sometime before the end of the month, but my weekends keep getting booked up!!
Jstock,
Paul Gray is prob the best person to speak to re the flying aspects...this plane needs more time for "building" than the L39 though. Agree on the Gold in the L39...its crazy power! Looking fwd to putting in the f16!

Hi James,
No sorry, no more pics yet. Painting this plane is big time consuming. It's going to take a lot more time than expected to do something really nice.
I'll keep you posted. I can't wait to hear about your F16 with ther gold 44... I'm sure it will give you enough power to get it off your short strip...

Finally the paint job is done. I thougth I'd never get over it. I now have to drop the turbine in and balance the bird.
Here are few shots of what it looks now.

Yann, that is incredible. Good job
I am back working on mine after a long lay off. I haven't flown any type of model for over 2 months due to work.
I see some of you have used the Eurokit noseleg with Spring Air retracts. Did you make the retract pin yourself? I haven't got a lathe so can't do the necessary machining to make each end a different diameter. Is there anywhere that sells suitable pins?

Nice work Yann,
those decals look great...still haven't done anything more to mine in terms of looks, but did try to fly it again last weekend.
Gold44 provides the power, its just the control that i need to sort....long grass and damp soft ground make the handling a nightmare with narrow track under-carriage.
If I could've kept it in a straight line i'm sure it would've flown from our tiny strip, but am gonna put it back in the box until summer when the grass is cut right back and the ground is nice and hard again, as i had no problems with tracking earlier this year.
Let us know how the maiden goes!

Dave,
Glad you like it. What do you need to know on how I did it ?
James,
Glad the GOLD provides enough power. I guess you just have to wait for summer now... It's time to start working on our new project... ;o)
Bob,
You are right, eventhough I've seen pics of some very dirty ones, I have to admit that they were not from the USAF. Or maybe when they fly back home from overseas deployment... I guess I just like it this way.
It shows up well the details molded in.

Well I used Humbrol paint for plastic model for the basic color. I then used oil paint for the weathering because it dries very slowly, so it gives me plenty of time to wipe it off the surface and leave shades. I then used humbrol varnish, aplied the decals then humbrol varnish again.

Paul (or anyone)
What glue did you use to glue the wooden servo mount to the Spring Air frame? I am not sure what glue will hold the metal without coming loose.
