Dynaflite SE5A / S.E. 5A / SE-5 / SE-5A / Build

Hi guys, it is has been a while since my last post, but things keep moving. Cabane struts are glued in place and both wing are very well aligned, it could be better to use a one hour epoxy instead the 30 minutes one.
Right now I am working with the mufflers and the fittings to attach the muffler to the fuse. I bought Dubro vintage wheels 5.6" and seems to me that they are really heavy and wide so practically there is no space to secure them.
I recently saw advertised at Tower a Wlilliams Bros vintage pair of vintage wheels, do you know something about them? I am veri interested in knowing how much wide are they in comparison with dubro ones.
I will post pictures a soon as I can, I really like the way it is coming out.
Regards.
Alfred

Sounds like a good choice.
The current problem that I have is that the dubro wheels that I already have are very heavy and wide, so there is not enough space to place the wheel collar to secure them.
Thanks for you help, I'll be posting some pictures as soon as I can.

was glancing thru the thread here as I have and fly an SE5A from dynaflight.I fly it with an OS120 and my covering was olive drab monokote.once covered I ten sprayed the covering with min wax polyacyrlic water based polyurethane. It beautifully removed the shinny finish and gave me a very flat ot matte finish.picked up the trick from a fellow competitor.I want to cover the whire s on the landing gear to simulate wood cstaining to match the struts.and finally I use aileron connectos for connecting the top and bottom alierons.its sport scale and fun to fly at rhinbeck every year.the 120 is plenty and a 26 cc would be just too big.

Cloudancer, I have installed a magnum four stroke 1.20 size, but I am sure that the weight on mine will be a lot higher than yours, if it is possible I d' like to know how does your combo perform and the final weight.
I did the simulated wood landing gear with balsa, the plane is covered with Koverall and used stix it and iron it, then I sealed with nitrate dope. The plane has gained some more weight with aditional details like William Bros. machine guns, four servo aileron setup, dummy engines with mufflers, very heavy dubro 5 1/2" wheels, improved winshield and a bit of detailing at the cockpit.
I will be shooting more pictures soon.

I don't know the reason of the size of the pictures, I hope the problem could be solved. I am taking these pictures with a 6 mp digital kodak camera.
Here a detail of the machine guns.

I have built the small wing that is attached between the wheels at the manding gear. It is completly built with balsa, I brought my camera but forgot the card in the card reader, so I will be posting more of these details later.
Best regards.

When it was ready to be painted I decided to cover it with tin material, it looks better, more scale, now I will have to paint it.
More pictures soon....

I painted the undercarriage wing and also glued these dumy wood landing gear to the wire, it is a shame that I could have not figure it out how to make it more "scale" to reduce the stress at landings.
I also glued the tail wood landing and I am in the process of painting.
I got from TW a pilot and things keep moving on this build.
I'll be posting more pictures soon.

Thanks Pat, I am very encouraged to finish this project before the end of this year, even adding some sort of scale details, not a professional job but very rewarding.
I have bought a pilot from Tower and made an aiming device with some aluminum and plastic tubing.

Thinking that the problem could affect the rudder, I used a couple of pin point robart hinges besides the use of normal CA hinges that came with the kit.

This is how the undercarriage wing looks after painting it.
I have painted the aiming device but have not taken any pictures of it, I will be shooting more pictures on monday and I will take a rest this weekend and fly on Sunday.
Blessings.

Looking good Alfred! Does your undercarrage have some give to it? I think the way it was designed it would be stiff and give very little in a hard landing.

Thanks Pat, I bet yours will look this good or even better.
Mode one, the undercarriage is stock wire that comes included in the kit, someone in this same thread showed the way to make a new one which can give, some more job to do but I bet that it worth the effort, by now I will have to practice some soft landings.
I attached the ailerons to the wings and I will make the servo connections on Monday, I am still thinking on doing the instrumental panel, there is plenty of space since I enlarged the cockpit area in my build, I thought that the one suggested on plans is definitively small and off scale.

I did modify my landing gear to allow some springiness. I cut what was the two axel ends in the middle of the landing gear assembly and used a brass tube and solder to join them together in the middle, making a spreader bar. Then I made an axle from another piece of piano wire. This is bungyed to the landing gear, similar to the real airplane. I also made a small axel wing, which is shown in the photo. The modification was really easy to do and I should think is doable to an existing, finished airplane.

Great idea and great performed, I think that I have a new task now and it will be necessary, I have a 14 pounds biplane, looks like it will need a shock absorber landing gear.
Thanks Mode One.
I will be shooting some pictures tomorrow and making some more work on it (aileron linkages), but definitively the landing gear will be modified.
I have several piano wire pieces (same gauge) so now I am planning to leave the stock one just like it is by now and start bending some new wire to get the new one.
Thanks Mode One.

Weird! I grab the plane from the upper wing and it weights 14 lbs., but if I grab it from the tail it weights only 12, I guess something is wrong with my fisher's scale.
