can anybody help ? where can I buy solartex covering and do you have to fuel proof it ? thanks

I think if you google Solartex or Worldtex (same thing) you should be able to find a couple of places that sell it. The LHS near me sells it as regular stock.
It is fuel proof but I recommend spraying or painting a top coat over it to make it easier to clean after flying.

Solartex is supposedly fuel-proof but at least on some colors the weave is still easily felt and that mean bits of grit with attach themselves (not actually all that bad on a scale model). Also if are going to paint on any markings (for example with Latex) you'll need to add a final (ideally sprayed) coat of something like Miniwax polyurethene or polycrylic.

Solartex is great stuff. I always order from Balsa USA.

I covered my Fly Baby with the colored Solartex from Balsa USA. It is as the one reply said...... that you can feel the weave on most colors, (mine was red and silver), and especially the red. The silver was more smooth. I tried some TESTS on scrap-covered Solartex first. I used Minwax and Deft, oil and also their water based Poly U, because I wanted to seal the surface to make any cleaning easier. I let these test pieces dry about 2 WEEKS. I put a couple drops of raw gas/oil mix on the samples, (like an accidental spill or splatter), and within SECONDS the surface was attacked by the fuel and it softened the PolyU. I had read then....... and now... that these are the products to use for gassers. I am glad I tested first!!. I ended up sealing it with Nelsons clear with cross-linker. (hardener).
I have posted before about Nelsons product and one person called it junk. Maybe I was lucky. ??? My plane turned out VERY nice and is holding up great. .... lownslo.

Solartex is great stuff. All the colored stuff is fuel proof. You WILL want to give it a clear coat when you are done. The weave is pretty open on Solartex and unless you clearcoat it you are going to have a heck of a job cleaning it. (Don't ask me how I know about that )
