Default 14MZ: Flying wing 2 aileron programming question

Hello,

I just programmed my flying delta wing Weasel Pro into my 14MZ.

It has two ailerons, these also work as elevator,

So I chose the Flying Wing with two ailerons as type, and normal rudder
(it has no rudder, no issue there)

Now I've noticed that while I have 100% servo travel using my aileron
stick, I only have 50% travel on the elevator stick.

I cannot find how to increase this to 100%.

I have not changed a thing, just selected the wing type...

What must I do to have 100% servo travel (like for ailerons) also for
elevator?

Thank you for any info,

Rgds,
Ralf

Hi Ralf!

This is "hidden" in page two (2/2) of the "ELE to Camber"-menu. Set all four values to 100% if that is what you need.

"Rate 1" is for "up" and "Rate 2" and "down" elevator (or the opposite), and you can adjust this separately for right and left control-surface.

Hi,

You need to go to the Elevator AFR menu (In the 14MZ the elevator is set to VC1) and increase the values to 200%!! or as high as you need them to get the right travel. If you still need more travel then go to ATV and increase the ATV for Aileron 1 and 2. This is what worked for me. It seems weird that on a delta that the default is high aileron and low elevator, because whats really needed is the reverse.

Still all that money spent and the damn thing doesnt do Elevon mix at all well. This sucks big time and I hope Futaba plan on doing a firmware update VERY VERY VERY soon to correct this silly bug.

Yes, I have in the meantime found that. Thank you for your help.

I do agree 100% that this is a silly situation, the preset value shoud just be 100% not 50%. You can increase it indeed in AFR but then the curve line runs of the end of the graph... And you can never get the elevator travel to match the aileron travel..., 100% aileron is still more than 200% elevator travel on VC1...

I strongly feel this is a bug and it should be corrected as soon as possible.

Perhaps someone from Futaba can a) explain the reasoning behind this and/or b) tell us when the firmware upgrade is going to be. I'm willing to be a guinea pig for the upgrade, just send me a CF card with the update, no problem.

Thx,
Ralf

I have already replied to this post yesterday, but it was deleted by Bax, as I am not "certified" to answer posts in this forum. Please read the kind PM I got:

From Bax:
"We're sorry we had to delete the reply you made to someone else's question in the Futaba Support Forum. Per RCU rules, only Futaba Support staff are allowed to post replies to questions. People can most certainly add additional questions to follow-up on a reply, but answering questions by non-Futaba Support people is not allowed in this forum. Thank you for your consideration. "

If he has the time to send me this PM, and delete my post, why didn't he take the time to answer your simple question?

I'll try to answer you once again!

This is not a bug nor a misfunction. It's all about finding the right menu to adjust it!

You'll find this in page two (2/2) in the "ELE to Camber" menu. Adjust all these 4 values to 100% if that is what you want. Rate1 and rate2 is to adjust the throw separately for up vs. down elevator. And you can do this on each surface.

Hope you read this before the post is deleted again!

When you have the wing type as a tailless wing with 2 aileron, you set up the amount of elevator travel in the AFR(D/R) area of the model menu. You can touch the panel that allows you to select which channel you are setting. You'll find "elevator" in the list. Select it and then set your travel in the AFR(D/R) menu.

If the AFR won't give you enough elevator travel, you have to adjust the position of the pushrods on the servo arms and control horns to get the travel you wish. Then adjust "down" the amount of AFR on the aileron channel.

That's how elevons are set up.

Later edit: Poster "OAK" mentioned that the Elevator to Camber mix needed to be adjusted to 100% on the second screen. We did further checking and found that to be so only if your transmitter was not already set to 100%. Our transmitter defaulted to 100% when we set up the elevon mixing. We then used the AFR to adjust throws on our test model.

WHAT???

That is not correct Bax!

Now I have given the correct answer to this question two times, but got the messages deleted. I got this PM explaining why it takes time before Futaba answer your question: We look at the different questions and then formulate answers. We cannot get to them all right away. Sometimes we have to check the operation so that the answer is correct.

That really is a fair that you Futaba guys take your time to be sure you give a correct answer, but now you are giving this guy a wrong answer? Scary!

To get 100% elevator-throw on the setup you mention you have to edit the values in page 2 of the Elevator to Camber mix screen! These are default 50%, and have to be increased to 100% if you want the same throw on the elevators as ailerons. THEN you can adjust the AFR to suit your application as you suggest!

Actually poster "OAK" was right in the first place.

I did numerous tests creating new models, selecting various wing types but i could *never* get the default in the ELE Camber screen 2 to be 100% like you stated.

I can only assume that you have a newer version of the SW, I don't have my transmitter at hand but I will be posting my SW releases in a subsequent post,

Thank you;

Ralf
