No comment on where to post mods to the AA. But I did manage to find some of the jet versions of the AA in my local Kmart today after work. After a bit of going back and forth, I decided to commit the $22 + tax they were asking. I knew it was a deal, but since I had just ordered the biplane, I was hesitant to buy a jet also. I had heard the jet was hard to fly. I took my 7 and 10 year old up to the school when I got home, and we flew it. I used NiMh batteries in my controller, and it was charged in less than 10 min. Not exactly sure how long we flew, but it seemed like a really long time. By the end of my first charge, both boys had flown the plane with a fair amount of controll. They, that is we, loved it. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention when the checker scanned my AA, the price came up at $6.45 with tax. I may go back and buy the other two left on the shelf tomorrow. The one charge we flew thus far was worth $6.45.
Good stuff.

I just ordered two Red 05 "B" bipes from KB.The three 06 red and black and green and yellow bipes I bought from TRU did not work or would run on thier own.Bad luck with the 06 model. The 05s, especially orange "Cs",are getting hard to find.I wish someone would sell replacement planes sans tx.I can't see being without 3-4 operating AAs as they are as much if not more fun then the big ones.I wonder what the upcoming X-mas season will have in store for us?Also if I can get a Silverlit Picco Z at Radio Shack why can't they stock X-Twins (AA Bipes)?

silverlit and airhogs are seperate companies. airhogs just bought the rights to use the silverlit products. thats probably why you dont see silverlit helis competing with airhogs airplanes, even though they're made by the same company. the one thing i wish they would do is start shipping these to hobby shops. its been years since the 2nd generation of the BladeRunners came out, and my LHS is just now getting them
. if they carried the AA or the picco, or some of the other neat toys, i'd probably go there more often (too bad its 45+ minute ride each way).

Fern, I trying to take some video of my mono/jet doing a take off and landing, by myself... I almost gave up on it , I could not get it to fly to save my life. The only thing it does is a nose dive.It was a combo of things: 1.I mounted the jet motors as far back as I could w/blades about 1/16" from the wing edge, not a good idea..I think The prop wash was going under the tail. Now the props are about 1/4" from the edge.2.Tail position with this mod is very critical,it took my 3 days to get it flying good... Mow it will take off and lad again.. Glad to hear you finally getting lights, you won't want to fly during the day anymore.. I also want to do the 16 step Tx mod...
MJS, welcome.
Mega, will the motors be more powerful after doing the mosfet/resistor fix?

Hey Guys,
A little info about the Aero Ace. 2 of my coworkers and myself have purchased a few of the air hogs products to fly in our warehouse in Houston. We love these things. However being engineers we have made a "few" modifications to them to make them do a little better. These planes have been flown hard and in the week we have had them, they EASILY have 3-5 hours of total flight time. Which is alot. We have a B/C channel planes. We are looking for the A channel so our 3rd coworker can fly his own. So any info on buying them online, would help alot. I hope this pics help. However modify at your own risk!!
These mods have helped speed/stablity/and climbablity! They also make it a legit R/C plane and not as much a kids toy.
something that may be hard to see are the adjustments to the elevators. On the blue plane (mine! it rox) the elevators have to be DOWN to climb and fly well, however with the red, they have to be UP to fly right. Crazy!
Also our engines like to lose grip with the wing. We correct this problem by pushing them back in there

Hi I just bought an airhog Ace, and I found out if you take off the struts and put a servo screw in the nose for weight it fly,s better, Now if I really take off the bottom wing, what about the motors props hitting the ground>? and will it glide as good for landings? Thanks please send me answer ASAP want to try it.

I am replying to the quote in the post above. I purchased yesterday an "A" channel plane from Toys R Us online. Cost was about $37 with tax and shipping. I was also fortunate enough to find a jet version of the aa at kmart nearby, see my previous post for details. Lots o fun to fly!

The Mosfets have a lower "on" resistance than transistors. So, it possible to see stock motors perform better with the 6401 repair/upgrade.
Also, the SuperSlick motors are fine to use. Thats why I selected the 6401 as the replacement. It will handle them with no problems.

Does anyone have an idea why the orange c channel flies better than the rest? I thought I was having airplane nostalgia, but I got another one and it is just a better flyer. Same weight, same motors, same pilot. Tim

here is a new pic of the toothpick flyer. It is now a straight mono mod. It flies well, but I'm thinking I'll use springs and stops for the next set up. I'll allow travel that creates lift, but dampen travel that causes the air frame to drop hard. Tim

suzonka, I read your earlier post and couldn't figure out what you wanted. You picked a pic from the very beginning of this forum, and declared you had figured out that a) removing the wing spars will change the flight of the plane, and b) removing the lower wing changes the flight of the plane. Now you want a video, this site does not support video. Please read the posts on this, or other sites devoted to the aero ace/X-twin, before you declare your desires. You might find that you'll get what you want. BTW, check youtube for AA video. I hope you have a wonderful evening. Tim

Trying to clear up my question, A felow club member told me to remove the struts ,I did and now it flys good, now the other pictures in this forum show the bottom wing removed in which I never did on my plane, what I wanted to see is a video of the plane flying with only the upper wing, As far as I know there isnt a video of the bottom wing removed with plane in flight.

Fern, the best channel is in the eyes of the beholder. I swear by my B channel and would recommend it over any other. But on the other hand I have a stock 05 A that has flown great ever since the day I took it out of the box. Yes it cuts out, I hate that, but it flies great...My stock 06 C flies great too. Do take into consideration that I have returned or should I say exchanged over a half dozen to find good planes. Not all planes are created equal, it doesn't really matter what channel you get. Just make sure you get one that flies good for you , and have a blast...
A friend of a friend just received his Storm Launcher in the mail,I think He ordered it from etoys. I will have to wait till this weekend to see it, he said it was really cool looking.Unfortunately the weather here stinks right now.
Superslicks for my Jet, way cool...I can't to see what this thing will do with the extra power that it so desperitaley needs. Just have to find the right props, darn I guess that means another trip to the hobby store for lunch ,which happens to be across the street from TRU. I need to buy the rest of the superslick motors that are on clearance .I paid $7.50 for 6 motors, not a bad deal.

DJ,
a few folks have said that the stock AA props put out quite a bit of power with the 7mm motors (especially with the blue/purple endbell motors, they like higher RPMs, and the smaller AA prop will certainly give it to them). but, if you're wanting to go to a larger prop, try a GWS 2.5x0.8 or GWS 2.5x1. both those props are good matches for the 7mm's. the only draw back from going to a differant prop is that they're not counter rotating, but it shouldnt pose much of a problem.

I like your paint jo, but when I wanted to put the decals on my plane some of the club members that have these aero ace bi planes, said dont put the decals on because of the weight and they also may warp the wing, how did yours fly and what type paint did you use, maybe the paint is better it wont warp the wings.

Thanks for the compliment !!!
I used Testors acrylic model paint. I did test it on a spare piece of the same foam and it was fine. No warping or melting.
I just could not bring myself to putting on the stickers that came with that plane...[:'(]

Suzonka, I apologize for being rude. I got a new heli yesterday and it is acting stupid. I allowed my annoyance to come through in my response to you.
The plane becomes faster, and more given to aerobatic manuevers. It does not turn as tightly, due to more speed, and is harder to control. You can try this mod without damaging your plane. Simply remove the lower wing by gently pulling it out. It is held in place with a soft glue. If you don't like the flight characteristics, use a little scrapbook glue on the wing and put it back in place. Tim

Ok Tim I acept, Im sure youll manage your heli, soetimes its just a bad day I have seen good pilots at he field crash rotors flying , and some kinda fly when no one is there untill they get better at it. then they come on a full packed day and show off thats me. Im glad you told me about the wing sliding out, I was tempting to cut mine off. If you ever get a vido of one of those ace airhogs bi plane flying in action Id like to see it.
