Bumping this to keep it going.
Just picked up the laser cut 1/5 Pica kit yesterday. Started shopping for fiberglass cowl and wheel pants. Fibertech had a shipping charge of $50. I know shipping has gone up lately, but damn! Calling Fiberglass Specialties this week to see what their shipping quotes are now as well.
Not intending to build soon, but got such an incredible deal I couldn’t turn it down. Seller was pick up only in Florida and timing was perfect since we went on a cruise last week and I met the seller just off I-95 on the way home. It was meant to be!

The Fibertech cowl and pants were a huge dissapointment as the pants are not as listed. They are 3/8' plus fatter. The cowl has voids and pinholes not to mention at least a days work to grind and sand all the flashing. I emailed them about it and especially my not being happy about the width of the pants............never got a call or email back.

Fiberglass specialties parts are made by the same man that started it and puts care into what he makes.
The fibertech parts look likt a kid made them.
Good info. I did order a Fibertech Sig Smith Mini Plane cowl last year. Paid extra for the primer. I thought they would have at least done some prep work first. Well, a little more than they did at least. Total waste of $10

My Feedback: (3)
I had the F/S cowl on my 1/5 and the bumps fit the Saito 125 rockers perfectly. My second 1/5 I have for sale includes another so should be the same.
Only negative: In the past I've pre-ordered F/S parts to pick up at the Toledo Show and found if it seems he's in a hurry the quality suffers.
ps. I too never knew of a laser cut Pica kit. Any knowledge of who or where it's sourced from?
Another thing I find with laser cut kits is every intersecting bit, (where adhesive is used) requires sanding off the burnt fibres to ensure good penetration. Sometimes that affects dimensions.
ppa. In the interim I did pick up that 1.4 Barth kit and have it set aside. This will likely be one of the very last kit builds I do and will take a while to purchase the Moki 250 radial since they price over 2K USD now.

It’s a Pica kit. From what I’ve been reading, their later production kits went to laser before closing shop.
And FWIW, the seller gave me a fiberglass cowl with the kit, but it’s for the 1/6 kit. If anyone needs it, I’ll sell it. Shoot me a PM.
