Im about to start a jagdpanther conversion from a pantiger ( im just waiting for the pantiger to get deliverd + a 1/35 jagdtiger model ) , and I seem to remeber a museum picture of a Jagdpanther with a bit different roadweels - looked like tiger I late model roadweels ....anyone else seen that picture ???? - I cant seem to find it again...... it sure would make the conversion a lot more easy if I just use thoose roadweels ....

Hi finally found it .... was not jagdpanther - it was a regular panther....so i guess i have to make the correct roadwells [&o] will take forever

I think that all the Tigers, Panthers (jagdpanther) switched to the late style wheels due to a lack of rubber.

I think this panther was one of the last built and a test for the Panther 2. Notice some details. The obvious late tiger steel wheels, BUT it also has tiger drive sprokets AND Tiger transport tracks on it. This vehicle itself shows how the germans were really reaching for parts to put together and standardize their vehicles toward the end of the war.

You can see that the front road wheel has been replaced to the late model wheel. I seem to remember that this was common practice as this wheel used to wear out faster then the rest.

Hi - Have now started the jagdpanther projekt, and im still waiting for my 1/35 scale model ( need one to get the scale right ). So im starting with the roadweels , trying to rebuild the original roadweels ( pic 1- ) so they look right .... bit rough looking now but its a start.... I i cant make thar work I just put on the

I would use your rebuilt wheels unless you can find pictures showing a Jagdpanther with late steel wheels. HI - Thanks did not thiks of that .... Im still waiting for my 1/35 model ( seems like it got lost in the poststal handling , and i Have to wait 25 workdays before getting it replaced [:@] ), and all thoose conversion/rebuild stuff should be more easy then ...

yeah I was thinking of getting those too , but its a bit too expensive I thing , and I belive i can make my own that will be OK

I am very interested in your conversion........I am doing a panther conversion and have cut the chassis up a lot to get a scale length and all the wheels etc. in the right position.....are you going to do the same?......I have also just ordered the scale panther wheels from Mato....hope they fit alright.................keep us posted on your progress and I will do like wise......

Hi - well I hought about cutting up the chassie, but im just making it a bit longer, moving the drivegears, the idlerweel and so on ..... I kow its a bit too wide, but its hard to make it correct without bying the correct tracks and roadweels - bit to expensive for me , so I have to stick with the Tiger ones .... rebuilding the roadweels and the drive weels + I bought the smaller Idlerweels so it should be Ok .... not perfect but Ok ....
I messured my 1/35 model and found that im making it correct length/hight but a bit too wide ( about 10% wider ) ... all due to the damm tiger tracks [sm=punching.gif]

yep...know exactly what you mean.......I have done everything to mine to get it to scale.....only exception will be the width due to the tracks as you say, and the turret, because I want the airsoft gun in place.....I have ordered my wheels from Mato and Tankzone are getting in the scale looking drive wheels for the panther using the Tiger width tracks so all in all the tank will be very close to scale and should look cool.........

Nice start so far!

It's great to see someone take on a project like this! The Jagdpanther (like all turretless tanks) is a big fave of mine and I'm sure yours will be nice when it's finished!

Hi CaptB, will there be enough room to house the airsoft mechanism?

Im acctually a bit worried about fitting the gun so it can fire .... have seen 2 jagdpanther conversion for sale on E-bay latley , and none of them could fire the gun ..... hope it works out - I have some Ideas but im still working on making the outside look OK first....
Will have some more pics soon ..

Almost forgot - the hardest thing in the beginning was figure out how to make it easy to dissassemble .... just the 7 - 9 screws as before , and I think I got that right ...

Finally - thank god for the gluegun [sm=lol.gif] ....

The citadel roof will be lower than the top of the original turret, so I'm not sure if the airsoft unit will fit.

I am building the Panther mark V with the angled hatches..........the airsoft gun is more or less the original HL although I have extended the gun barrel to the correct length.....I have been working on the gun lock mechanism and the hatch detail which I want opening so I can get at the switches....no under hull switches for me...all controllable from the top.......I'll post pickies soon when I have made more progress..........I think the airsoft gun will go in the Jagdpanther
....I will have a go at one of these in the near future.........

Hi - have now done some more .... engine deck is all done , the top of tank too , but im wondering if anyone has a pic showing if there is any handles on the top hatches ??? .... there should be i think , but my 1:35 model does not have any
