This looks promising for classic airframes. The weight is listed as 13.334ozs without muffler.

My Enya 60X model #7101 weighs 18.5 oz with glow plug, muff screews, carb and prop nut & washer (no muff). Heavy but a nice 2 piece case, big bolts and built strong. I had one in a Prather Panther with Tuned Pipe for 300 flights, it ran flawless. I still have my new spare 60X never needed it, nice engines, small carb but it ran respectable as far as power goes. I'm going to try a large OS carb when it finds a new home in a classic pattern plane.

I was thinking in terms of the weight of other current sixties like the OS FX that weighs 19.4ozs w/o muffler, or the Super Tigre that weighs almost 20ozs w/o muffler. This new Enya may not be lighter than sixties from the '70s but it's a lot lighter than other currently manufactured ones and it's a brand new design. That makes it stand out to my eye.

Judging from the appearance in the photo, it is a bored and stroked .50CX. The casting looks identical to the .50CX and its predecessors. This could be why they are emphasizing torque and not high rpm. The induction bypass will be too small for a high revving 10cc engine.

Brian, Ken Enya is now selling his engines direct through this website:
http://www.enya-engine.com/store/ind...ain_page=index
I have communicated with him a few times through email and he's very quick to reply.
Also, Kaz Minato is selling all the Enya stuff at 20% off:

I emailed Ken Enya yesterday and received a prompt reply. I asked him about the availability of the new Enya .61CX. Following is his email response:
--------------------
Dear Ed Cregger,
Thank you using our products, and thank you order last time from us.
61CX will be put on the market soon. The sales price is announced on the
homepage.
Please wait for a while.
Best Regards,
Ken Enya
---------------------
I'm in line to purchase one. The idea of saving 20% is appealling as well. Thanks for posting the Japanese hobby shop info.

rainedave,
I also need a muffler for my Enya 60III but the exhaust port is as shown. What is being shown in your shots - a new case, an add on muffler adapter or extra holes drilled in the existing engine.

Looks like a nice engine. If only MRC would import it. I don't understand why they don't import more of the Enya line. There are several engines that I am interested in.

MRC is no longer importing the Enya line. I guess Enya gave them the [sm=thumbs_down.gif]. They now sell direct on a web site.

Ray, two holes need to be drilled in the case to use the currently available muffler (M352X).
It should be a fairly simple procedure using a good drill press or mill. It might also be possible to drill two holes in the sides of the muffler and attach a metal strap.

David,
Ah, I see. There's not much metal there for a (3mm?) hole. A bit beyond my metal working ability I think.
The original muffler used the strap method as shown. It is a bit crude and ugly and tends to vibrate loose. I had hoped Enya had produced something better. Do I take it from the web site that this engine is still being produced - very surprising.

I'm going to have a machinist friend use a vertical mill to drill my case. There's no way I could ever do it by hand.
Yes, the .60 IIIB is still in production as a C/L model. However, he's selling a IIIB r/c carb as an option:

Ed, I asked Mr. Enya about a muffler for an old 60 III and not only did he respond in less than 24hrs., he whipped up some photos to help answer my question. How often does that happen? I was very impressed.

Mr. Enya has been very responsive to my queries also.
Isn't it odd that the Enya .60 III is still in production? It is a great engine. I was flying the Enya .60 II in a Dee Bee Beta ARF back when the III came out. Folks were complaining about the increased vibration of the III over the II. It seemed to me that an increase in vibration was to be expected with an increase in power. I never got to own/run the III. I bought a used one a while back, but it turned out to be junk. It was the second bad III that I have bought over the years. Maybe I should buy a new one. <G>

I got an email from Enya. The new .61 is now available. If purchased from Mr. Minato with the 20% discount it come to $135.55. That includes the muffler (but no glowplug). A new Enya .61 for less than an OS and a lot less weight? Suits me.

I agree with rainedave, he said that enya is a step up from os, I think dave brought that up in another thread. I'm not trying to start a war here, so please don't go there . I can say that my dealings with Enya has been great, I ordered the new 11 CX TN about 10 days ago I remember it was on a Saturday moring and received it by mail in 4 days from the time I ordered it!!! from Japan!!! I can't get that kind of service from Towers! Ken Enya emailed me and asked if I had any Question and thanked me for ordering the engine. What more can you say.

Wow..What a Good Lookin' Engine!! What a Very Nice Price as well!!
I know this is gonna sound wierd..But I don't like the looks of the newer OS FX engines...I much prefer the "Old School" SF's and RF's but they are sooo expensive when you find them on eB*y or whatever...
This Enya your looking at keeps that "traditional look"...I like that..he he...
The New Webra Speed 61F does the same thing...Looks "Old School" but is of today's technology...That's Kewl to me...
If you get one please let us know how she runs out!!
Have Fun..

I dislike OS' attempt at making their engines "look kewl". Because that is all that it is. The styling serves no useful purpose - eye candy.
I go to great lengths to keep my models light. I don't need to carry extra metal fins because they "look kewl". It says something about their attitude that annoys me.

IIRC, my Super Tigre G60 Bluehead weighed 20 ozs. without a muffler. While not being from the Sixties, it was not a schneurle ported engine.
I would be surprised if the Enya .61CX was as light as the old Super Tigre V series .60, but that old Tigre won't begin to match the Enya .61CX in power.

No, not yet. <G>
I don't mind them spiffing up the engine a bit for appearance. I just don't like it when they add extra material to do it, that's all.
Nope, haven't tried an Evolution glow two-stroke as yet, although I do own the 1.60 GT (MVVS in disguise) gas engine. I'll get around to them one of these days.
