It fits! Here are some pics showing a G-38 on the Super Cub. I still don't know how the weight and balance will come out as I haven't started the radio installation. My plans are to eventually fly this Cub off the water using Sig 1/4 scale floats.

Spring,
I am putting together my Super Cub currently with a G-23 (got it for 180 new). Did you Cub come out nose heavy? Where did you put your CG? Mine currently is a little nose heavy at the recommended CG. Just wanted to know what others have done.

I too have a Super Cub with the new G-26 in the nose. I had to add 9 ounces in the tail but oh what a nice combination!
A super duper bush plane! great short field flyer!

Did you open up a little whole for the weight or did you adhere it to the outside? Also, did the control settings in the manual work pretty well, especially the flaps/elevator settings? Also where did you put the kill switch?
I am waiting for my pitts muffler to come and then I can finish up this beauty. I have 4 Jr 811's in the wing and 2 Hitec 5645 for the tail feathers. I know overkill but the complete radio setup cost only $300 so it was worth the money. I did really hate that the engine instructions were wrong
, but hey, it is the first run. Hope to have mine completed in a week or two. First flight in May.
THanks in advance.

I have posted some of the following info. on a different thread and hadn't checked this one for awhile. I had to add 15 oz. to the tail to balance out the G-38 up front. That put the ready to fly (less fuel) weight at 17 lbs.
I now have 4 flights on this airplane and here are the results. After a somewhat scary first flight, I adjusted the ailerons for more throw than recommended. I am used to flying aerobatic airplanes and this Cub is not one of those. It doesn't have a lot of aileron authority and when it does finally start to roll, it is SLOW. The rest of the flight control set-ups worked well as recommended except for the flap / elevator mixing. The nose pitched down slightly with the recommended mix so I took out a little elevator to end up with about 1/4" down elevator with flaps down. I also set up a high rate elevator with a lot of throw just to help keep the tail down while taxiing. I switch to low rates just prior to the take-off roll and leave it in low rates for the duration of the flight.
Regarding the weight installation, I cut a hole in the bottom of the fuse, epoxied and screwed the weight onto a hatch cover, and then slid the weights into the hole, and then epoxied and screwed the hatch cover to the fuse.
I intended to put the kill switch right in front of the servo tray with a push / pull rod coming through the fuse. I must admit that instead, I set my tx up so that the idle trim will kill the engine.

I have not completed my super cub yet, but I just received in my Fuji 32. The fuji I believe is 3.7lbs, closer to the G-26 weight than the G-38 at roughly 4.5lbs. It should have about the same power as the G-38 though. At least according to the specs! So, I figured that I would mount the elevator servos in the rear. That should help out on the balance. Besides, I hate running long pushrods!

Well, Guys just had a chance to take a closer look at the Fuji 32. I have not yet run it, but it looks like a very cool little engine! I have not weighed it yet to verify, but It feels lighter than the G-38. This one comes with a muffler ready to go with two exhast ports! No need to buy an additional muffler. Unless you really want to squeak out the RPMs, but this is a super cub, and Im sure it will do fine. If it lives up to its published specs, it should be one very nice engine for this airplane! It also has rear exhast just like the G-38, so will fit very nicely. The mounts are a little light, but should be ok. I will let you know how it works out as I progress! First impressions, Im glad I bought one! (hopefully my mind wont change at the field ha! ha!)
It definately is a bit smaller in size than the G-38, and should mount up very well! oh yeah, I have not yet looked at the piston through the exhast as the muffler comes bolted on, but I think it has dual rings. If my memory serves me right!

Hey Springcreek
Finally got off of my butt and finished my Cub. I had to put 12 oz into the tail to balance it at 5". I mixed my to flap servos together with different channels. I used a Y reverser but it was acting real flakey. There really wasn't much wood in the bottom of the tail to cut for a hatch. Anyway, hope to fly it next week since the weather will be bad this weekend. Want to take it out on a nice clear and CALM day. LOL

I took my Super Cub out today for it's maiden flight. First good weekend we have had in almost a month. I took the plane out last week but left the wing tube at home.
There is a father and son team at the field helped train me to fly. The son took the Cub up first to check it out. It took off with NO PROBLEMS being powered by a G-23. I know that some people put a bigger engine in it, but mine flew Great with the 23 under the cowl. Once he checked it over he gave me the controls. WOW is all I can say. Great plane. I gave the controls back to him and he landed it. His father was busy when we went up the first time and he wanted to fly it. So as he did with me while I was training, he made me take the plane off. I powered up eased off of the elevator and when at full power lifted off. I flew it for a while and then gave him the controls. He looped it and did some other maneuvers. He gave me the controls back and I landed it. It was smooth as a baby's bottom.
GREAT PLANE!!!! I highly recommend it.
