Default If you sell G3 or G4, you should un-register it.

I recently sold G3.5 at our club's big swap meet. In order that they new owner be able to register in his name so that he could upgrade, I needed to contact Great Planes and un-register. I emailed [email protected] with the request. In order to help the email get to the appropriate person efficiently, I placed the words, "un-register G3" in the subject line. This is the verification response I just received:

Thank you for your recent email.

I have reset the product registration for RealFlight G3 serial number: 0zzzzzz6-G3-47zzzzzzz7 ("z's" overlayed by me)

I hope you find this information helpful. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can also reach our product support technical team at 217-398-8970 during our regular business hours Monday through Friday 8am to 7pm Central time. Be sure to have your computer specifications and serial number for your software available at the time of your call. PLEASE REMEMBER to attach all previous correspondence (and dxdiag information if previously requested) with our responses to any follow up e-mail you may send. This will allow us to better track our attempts to troubleshoot your problem. Unfortunately, due to the volume of e-mail we receive, WE ARE UNABLE TO SAVE OR REMEMBER E-MAIL MESSAGES ONCE WE HAVE SENT A RESPONSE.

OK, here is something else that might matter to you. If you do sell and un-register and then attempt to file a rebate for the G4 purchase, be advised:

You need to provide all the info in the rebate PLUS you need to include something that proves you owned G3/3.5 when you purchased G4. Their proofing check of your rebate info only checks to see if the older model IS NOW registered in your name, not that it WAS ever registered to you. And they probably will see that it's registered to whomever you sold it to. And they'll then reject your rebate.

They were nice about it when I sent them a copy of the email from them to me acknowledging my un-registration. That proved I owned G3 and G4 both at the time I sent in the rebate.

I HATE FRICKIN' REBATES. I consider them to be very close to an attempt to defraud.

OK, new development...................

They have a red banner in the ads now. It says they now require that you own BOTH G3/3.5 and G4 AT THE TIME YOU SEND IN FOR THE REBATE.

So don't sell your G3/3.5 until after you get the rebate back.

I REALLY HATE REBATES!!!!!!! They suck.

Now, I am about to go spend the $75 one I got for this G4 purchase, but it's been no less of a pain in the butt. No retailer who hits us with a rebate gets my business unless I have no other way to buy the stuff.

The same applies now with the newer versions.
