Got my new plane carrier today. It took less than an hour to put together. All the parts and foam were precut and the
manufacturer even included a picture with all parts lettered showing exactly how it went together.

I saw Richard's ad posted in the RCU ads, sent him an e-mail with dimensions of my planes and the inside
dimension of my van and he designed this carrier for me.

I am attaching pictures and you will note that the wings on mine are on the bottom. The "stand alone" posts beside
each wing fold down so you can slide in wings that have the landing gear mounted to the wing. I chose to use
self tapping screws instead of PVC glue during assembly. If the wing posts get loose from raising and lowering
due to taking the wings, in and out, I will merely pin them later.

His ad is currently expired, but he has given me permission to post his e-mail address. If you're tired of hangar
rash and want a nice carrier to haul multiple planes talk to him. Very reasonable price.

I had built one to haul 2 planes in the back of my pickup. I spent several hours cutting, gluing, etc.
Then I purchased my van and I wanted one that I could slide in and out and haul more planes.

It works perfectly, is stable and I can leave them in the van all the time. All that loading and unloading
is now a thing of the past, notwithstanding saving all the dings on wings, etc.

I'm impressed with your plane hauler and need one for the bed of my pick-up, and perhaps one that I can suspend from the ceiling of my garage to provide me with more uncluttered room. Jim, If I may ask, what's the width of that?

Just buy the PVC parts in the plumbing department at the home depot and design your own.

The base is 30" wide. The entry dimensions to the back of my van is 46" x 46" and it loaded without any difficulty. With the 3rd seat out I have about 86" of room. My Spacewalker WS is a little over 80", so everything works fine.

You could go and buy your own materials, but I figured by the time I tried to design it and the mistakes I would make I would be better off to let someone with some
experience do. it. I'm glad I did. No frustration, mess, trips to Lowe's, etc. I paid less than $100.00 shipped, took me less than an hour to assy it and now I can haul
my planes in the van and never load and unload again for each trip to the field. Will save me hours in repairing dings.

Thanks for posting the width. The reason I ask is I'm always looking to improve mine. I no longer have my (old) truck, so now this goes into my Toyota Sequoia.

Nice looking setup. As soon as I am able (over the weekend) I will post a picture of my loaded carrier sitting in the van.
I really like it a lot. I would have been tickkled if the price had been higher. Just having the convenience of not having
to unload after every trip to the field and less wear and tear on the planes makes this carrier a bargain.

Thanks Jim for all the good words. Your right I don't make alot on these. With several years of design changes I felt that this one was worth sharing to fellow r/c flyres as I don't like patching or repair planes from stupid hangar rash. I'd rather spend my time building new or rebuilding a hole plane and of coarse flying planes. I put in a airstrip here at the house (40x400) so I try and can fly when every I can so that is a plus. I would like to see some pics of the craddle in the back of van. I think to date I've made well over 150 of these in the last year & 1/2. I haven't had one complaint and that really makes me feel good about what I'm doing and the service I'm ginving to fellow r/c flyers, so if there is anyone out there wanting a craddle let meknow and I'll get you set up. I ordered a plane rack from Rick, should be on its way in around a week. I'm putting mine in a trailer I built on a 4x8 Harbor freight frame...its a 4x8 box 3' deep...I'll put a tarp over the top of it for the 12 mile drive to the feild

Rick, are you building out of 3/4 or 1/2 pipe?

I dont know about Rick, but I built a very similer carrier I use in my pickup and I used 1/2 in.  It is very sturdy.  I also use velcro across the fuse for insurance.
