This engine is mounted on a 27% SIG Cap 232.
I plan to spin a Zoar 22x8 prop
hoping to be under 16lbs

saw this engine on the www.unitedhobbies.com website. Unbelievable price. I thinks $209.99 plus shipping. Sure looks good with machined crankcase. Interested in hearing how you feel about it.

United is bringing in all kinds of Chinese clones of other stuff. This one looks like a Zenoah G-45 or G-62, except for the polished case. (and no magneto) At over $150 bucks cheaper than the G-45, and with electronic ignition, it looks really good. I'm hearing mixed reviews on how they (the Chines clones) run and perform, hope you get good service from it.

I had looked at an SV-50 twin that United markets, they got "out of stock" permanently engraved on their site There is another site selling the same engine for $160 more than United, and they have pics of some other engines by the same mfg. Oddly, the twin uses the same cylinders as the 25cc single they sell; there's a plate over the intake port on the cylinders of the twin that corresponds exactly to the port on the single (the twin uses case induction).

You don't think that most 100cc twins use the same cylinders they use on their 50cc engines? A 3w-56 is a pair of 23i cylinders. A Brison 105 is a pair of 3.2 cylinders. It's a fact of life everywhere.

Keep all of us in touch with how well this engine performs. I am very interested in it. I have the SV-26 which has turned out to be a good little engine. I hope your XYZ 50 is a keeper.

I'd never really noticed it before (the cover plate on the intake ports) on other engines, until I noticed them on the in-line ZDZ twin. It makes perfect sense, why have to make separate castings for the same displacement cylinders. I had thought to give the SV-50 a try as my first twin; price is reasonable, most others are too rich for my blood (and wallet).

I guess even GM, Mopar and Ford get into the act, sawing off either one bank of a V-8 to make a slant 4 or the front two cylinders to make a V-6.

Well, I am getting really close to giving this engine a try. I have the ignition cut-off on order and I am hoping that it arrives this week.
I will provide photos and video on youtube. I will be spinning a zoar 21x8 initially and after run-in I'l change to a 22x8.
I will provide as many specs as I can.

I have over 50 maybe 60 flights with mine on the hangar 9 extra 260 27% airplane. Performance was right on par, and so was the weight - actually the plane was lighter with the XYZ 50.... ok I was saying - performance is right on par with the saito 220 I removed from the plane - and fuel - instead of buying 65 bucks worth of fuel for 3 gallons - it's more like 11 bucks right now (which is still nutz for gas but I think we're permanently screwed on that matter).

It's nice not messing with glow drivers, their associated wiring for remote glow, holes in the plane, etc.. It's also nice to be able to easily flip start the engine.

the power is not anywhere near what a DL-50 is, or DA-50, or 3mm 53, but the price is quite a bit cheaper. the case isn't polished it's not cast - it's machined. the nuts and bolts it comes with you might as well try to ignore - and go to a good hardware store and get some hardware. My muffler came loose - but on initial installation I didn't do anything to help it - I just bolted it on with the locking type nuts. when I re-installed it I got longer bolts and drilled holes in the end of them and safety wired them together so now they ain't coming loose and the nuts can't back out.

I switched from break in oil to amsoil 100:1 synthetic mixed at 50:1. runs great, and reduced junk comes out of the tail pipe.

When I bought it a DL was a $400 dollar hit - now they're cheaper a little, but still almost double this XYZ-50. so if price is a concern and you don't need that extra power then I'd say go for it. just remember to filter fuel coming out of your jug with a paper element type filter - I made the mistake of having only an inline filter on the plane and fine particles of junk got past that and clogged the carb's internal filter screen - that was a pain in the butt for 2 days - but not the engines fault.

I tried a 22x8 pro-zinger and a 6-10x20 zinger dual pitch prop. I think it flys in most respects much better on the 6-10x20. better vertical, and better straight speed - but those props are kinda ugly.

My XYZ 26cc had a bent cranshaft upon arrival. The Hong Kong based supplier promised to send me a replacement once they got it from the factory, however, it has been 3 weeks and there was no news whatsoever from the supplier. I feel rather upset about the service.

I believe manufacturers should not supply Hobbycity if they are not supporting the products they sell this is Piracy! Surely everyone can see they dont care i have had issues and its all over RCU about them not being responsible once they have your money when will people realise this if we dont buy from them they will go away eventually !

What kind of RPM will the XYZ 50 get on a Xoar 22x8 prop? If it will turn a Xoar 22x8 at 7000 RPM I will be ordering one from Ron at Southeastengines.com.

Hey Jim,
Well I'm sure your not going to see 7000 with a 22x8 Xoar prop.
This is a small and compact 50cc engine.
However the longer I run this thing the better it gets.
I had unlimted vertical Wednesday on a 28% Katana and continues to run better and better.
I was using a NX 21x10.

Ron
