What ignition did that engine come with ?
Skiman, Have been reading your post for a long time now. Thank's
The CDI is manufactured by their parent company that makes other ignitions.

What is the name of their parent Company?

Can this CDI handle 6V and above?
Not sure about the parent company in China at this time.
However, they started out as a electrical component manufacture.
I will check out the all associated sidelines for you.

We suggest that you use either a 7.4vdc Li-Po or Li-On pack with a 6vdc regulator.
or
Use a Nimh/Nicd pack that is less than 6.7vdc or below at fully charged.
It will operate a 4.8vdc @ 2100mah for 4-5 flights with no prob.
The manufacture wants to advertise 6vdc for all day long flying.
240-250mah at idle and
350mah at full throttle.
Hope this info helps answer your question.

Thanks,

Ron,

What kind of RPM's are getting out of the 21x10 NX prop. It will be very close to a 22x8 I think. I'll be calling you on Monday after I return from Toledo.

After spending many hours of my time, searching for a good, well organized engine manufacture in china, I truely think we found them.
They have been very honest and have worked very hard to get into this business and our hobby.
They do a lot of research before they commit to a product.
That is hard to find now days.

It's nice to say that they are a pleasure to work with.

Ron, could you address this post? I'd like to see numbers as well. Also, if I'm not happy with the engine, can I return it for a full refund? Larry at LSPro says yes I believe. Can't beat a money back gaurantee!

We will be running the 50cc this Sunday (tomorrow) on a 27% Katana w/82" Wing span.
We will test RPM on a 20x10, 21x10 and a 22x8.

As far as the moneyback guarantee is concerned. I'm hoping to soon supply enough
info on all engines so that the customer will know ahead of time, exactly what he is getting.

We will be supplying more specs with parts break down and warranty info on the website soon.

Thanks,

This has been asked several times, and I am curious as well to what you came up with? Surely you want potential customers to get this information as quickly as possible? I have considered this engine as well, but its a bit spooky when it seems the seller is reluctant to produce very much information aside from its attractive price. If its a good runner, than the $250 is a steal of a deal if it holds together well and produces good power. However if an engine won't run well, produces terrible power, and is known to break than its only worth whatever it will bring for scrap. I know nothing about this engine, and really hope it is a great buy, but some more detailed information would be nice before I would fork over money for one regardless of the price.

As mention in post #31, I finally was able to put together a day of testing with not
only my plane (Katana), but two others with XYZ Engines in them.
I can only comment on this forum as stated in RCU rules.
If you want to get detailed, please call me to discuss. I would be happy to answer
any questions you may have.
I'm not going anywhere soon and either are the engines.

I was able to get some numbers for the XYZ 50cc & 26cc.
On it's first run, the 50cc on a GreatPlanes Giant Aeromaster (picture attached) weighting 17lbs flew great.
Using a 20x10apc prop, we saw 6700rpm on the ground and unlimited vertical in the sky.

The 27% Katana with a 22x8 Bolly prop flew it ok with unlimted vertical and 6200rpm on the ground.
Switched to a 21x10 NX and flew great with 6200rpm on the ground.
Switched to a 20x10 Xoar and flew about the same with 6500rpm on the ground.

The 1/4 scale Edge with the 26cc in it could not fly do to a servo problem on the elevator.
We saw 6900-7000rpm with a 18x6 TF prop and 8100rpm with a 16x8 MA prop.

For the Katana/50cc, it was it's 2nd flight right out of the box. I flew it once last week.
For the Aeromaster and the Edge, 1st out of the box.
I flew the Katana myself and could hear the 50cc getting stronger as I flew it.

All engines started up and ran with very little adjustments if any.
All of the High needle settings were a bit rich for breakin.

My conclusion:
I saw more torque than high rpm. None of the engines would bog down on
vertical. They just continued to pull.
Some engines I have tested would just continue to drop on load.
It was a long "but fun" day yesterday, and to me that's what it's all about !

I hope this helps,
Ron

Ron,

Thanks for this information. I have just ordered one from your web page and hope to see the engine soon. I sent you an e-mail and please send it to the address in the e-mail. The #'s look good for a new engine and I know they'll get better after a few gallons of fuel thru them. I have my Skyshark P-40 ordered and plan to use the XYZ 50 in it for power.

Thanks for the valuable information. I am sure it is much appreciated by everyone who is considering one of these engines! By the way, that engine looks right at home in that great looking Aeromaster![8D]

Hi Ron, have been looking for a reasonably priced engine of this size for some time now. What I'd like to know , is, if you have experinced any delays in getting these engines from your supplier, and if you have experienced any probs. with backordering?
Appreciate your test results from yesterday.

Ron,

I ordered a replacement XYZ ignition from Hobby City before I found out they had a US distributor. Boy was that a mistake. After 2 weeks and me threatening to lodge a dispute with paypal, they now have said they have shipped my order. We will see.
If I had known at the time that there was a US dist, I would have ordered from you. If I ever get my ignition and it works well, I will order more. Plan to use them on some weedie conversions.

Anyhow. to make a long story short, do you know if the ignition has an advance?

Thanks
Jim

Jim,
They are an auto advance type ignition.
However you do have to use their sensor.
Thanks,
Ron

Thanks a lot Ron.

Just found out that one of my flying buddies has ordered the 26cc from you. Looking forward to seeing how it does. I think he plans to put it in a Hanger 9 P-47. I'll let you all know how it does.

Thanks for the Numbers and the effort to obtain them. How much time was on the engine prior to these tests? I'm guessing that it was far from broke in. Also, what gas/oil ratio and oil was used? What is the recommended oil and oil/gas ratio after break-in? Are there any aftermarket mufflers that will fit the engine?

Thanks for the information!

They have bent over backwards for us.
Nothing has been on backorder.

The Aeromaster 50cc and Edge 26cc was right out of the box.
The Katana 50cc had two flights on it.
We recommend 32:1 Lawn Boy Gen2 for first two gallons.
Then Amsoil Saber or Pensoil Total Synthetic. at 50:1 for the life of the engine.

"As you know everybody has their favorite oil."

We are working on muffler ideas now.

Ron,

I have been looking for any infomation on the XYZ engines I could find. I came across a supplier in China that has posted on there site comments from customers who have used the XYZ 50. One of the customer posted he is getting 8000RPM with a Xoar 18x8 prop. So it looks like this XYZ 50 engine of yours is going to be the ticket for many a RC Flyer. If you lose on the average of 500RPM for every 2 " you go up in prop size and keep the pitch the same. That means the XYZ 50 should spin a Xoar 22x8 prop very close to 7000RPM. That is very good in my books.

I am now really looking forward in getting my hands on this engine.

I just got the engine and it looks great. The engine has quality all over it. The muffler is very lightly built, but I think it should work out fine. I will try and get a good test run this weekend. The Walbro carb is a wt-731 and is a good carb, but a little small for a engine of this size. I think that is why you are not seeing the RPM's like I have on the Brillelli 46. I will test run a gallon of fuel thru it using the WT-731 than I will change it out to a Walbro 201 carb. The WT-731 is a 9.5mm carb and the WT-201 is a 13.4mm carb. The larger venturi of the Walbro 201 will allow the engine to pull in more air and fuel. The 201 carb should give an extra 500RPM are so. I'll keep in touch.

Hi Satellite,

I received a replacement propeller shaft from your HongKong web seller this afternoon.

Upon fixing it onto the XYZ 26cc engine, I spinned it and took a short video clip and uploaded it to the Youtube. Please take a closer look at the spinning propeller shaft and see what happened.

I will let Satellite know that your post is here and will let him respond to this.

The only thing I can tell you is, if this came from me I would replace the entire engine.
So far so good on our end as I checked four from our last order and all were
find. I did this because of your post #17.
