Oh wow! I didn't know they were re-releasing that. I've always loved that thing.
LB, any word on when we'll see it at retail?

I checked the Tamiya Japan website, I think the ETA is July!
Can't wait!! US might be a little bit later, unless you order directly from Japan..

Yeah can't wait either, it's a treat to drive something with that style of suspension.
I recently acquired a barely used if not new Kyosho Rowdy Baja 1/8 scale, real nice car - doubt I'll ever drive it though

Saw that it would be like $350 or so MSRP (just a rough estimate base on the Japanese price) So the street price, I am guessing, in the low $200?!

Me too!! I hope Tamiya will keep the price low.. instead of a super high price like the HiLift series..
Keep it in the low-200s, they will sell out every single one of them!!

Does this car not take a 7.4V pack?

I wouldn't hold your breath that it is going to be cheap. Die cast suspension parts are not going to be as cheap as molded plastic. What is "FRP" that is used for the main frame? Is there a thread going on this at Tamiyaclub or is this the first one.
Don't you want to put "official" into the thread title?

I better get rid of this NIB Blackfoot before its re-release is announced. Those buggies in original form go for $400-$700+. Re-releases always sink the original prices. This chassis was also used in other platforms. I wonder if they will release any of the others.

The price I am estimating is purely based on the announced estimate Japanese price.. agree that the pricing in US can be a lot different.. but typically, they will equalize after it is released for awhile...
But yeah, hopefully they keep the price reasonable.. !!
"Official"?! A thread is only as official as the content and participation.. so I guess I never see the reason to put that.. if people participate and the thread has a lot of useful information, it will be the official thread.. if not, doesn't matter how many "OFFICIAL" you put on the title..

Yeah, I don't see any reasons why they wouldn't release the other shells.. since they all use very similar chassis!

RE: Tamiya Buggy Champ 2009 Resource Thread!
I got the news this morning.
And you know what: I bought a nice condition Rough Rider 2 weeks ago which I'm restoring / modding at the moment. [:@]
Really don't know if I should cry or be happy.
I wonder what comes next.
Tamiya is aiming at a small market here (compared to other models), they need to release the F-150 Ranger XLT, the Super Champ and of course the Sand Scorcher to make money from their tools.
I collected all of them over the last few months. I even have two Super Champs. [&:] Oh well...
Great job on opening a new thread for it, LB. I'm sure you're getting not only one!

I might have to get one of these too, depends on how reasonable they keep the price. I've been resisting the siren call of the scale/trail rigs so far, but now a scale/racer design re-re that's nearly as old as I am? This is going to be tough NOT to buy.

Dante,
I hear you.. but if you are collecting, there will still be differences between the original and the re-release.. so you should be okay.. knowing that you own one of the originals..
If you want a runner, then I guess the re-re will make a much better choice. (Improvements, parts support, etc.) So maybe you can sell them before the kit becomes available in July?!
Hmm, should I try to sell my 4 FOX?! ha ha!!

I'll get 1 or 2 for sure!
My Rough Rider is going to be restored with some bling added.
I just finished restoring my Ranger using lots of custom bling parts, its for the shelf only!
I'm going to fix up one SuperChamp with Baja Beetle shell as a runner, soon.

Thanks, LB!
The shocks are 3Racing, made for the Tamiya GB-01 chassis.
There are many other parts that are different from the kit. Some are aftermarket alloy parts and some custom parts made by myself.

The old one uses the humpback pack.. it is to fit the pack inside the waterproof electronic box side way.. I am guessing that the 6.6V pack is shorter than the typical stick pack so it will fit easily.
I certainly hope that we can use other batteries in it or we'd have to buy a new charger and new battery.. [&:]
I guess worse case you can always just run a humpback NiMH pack.. ?!
We will see.. !!
