Default Is Powermaster still in business?

Hi guys,

I've been trying to get through to Powermaster fuels, I can't get a call through. I've left messages, no response. My hobby shop guy says he has tried for 2 months now and finally got through on a private line to the wife of the former owner.

He says she told him that she signed the business over to her daughter so she could take over the everyday operations. But when she came in to work the next week, the daughter had changed all the locks, and doesn't seem to be running the place anymore.

I keep trying and the answer machine picks up, but there are no messages returned. Anybody got a clue as to what is going on?

I thought maybe my dealer had been cut off so I was just going to drive up there and see if I could get a case or two direct if possible, but ....nothing.

Dang, my Saitos really liked that 20/20 blend too!

Not good, sounds like a family fight. And we lose. Just got to hang loose and see what happens.

Cheers,

Time to give Glowplugboy Fuel a try..... you'll love our 20/20 or your money back. We ship in 12 quart cases so there is no hazmat.

www,gcbmrc.com

and sold on that "other" auction site....

We currently are lucky to have some good hobby shops that offer a good selection of fuels for ok prices.

Since that can change at any time, I have a question.

What is the oil content of the "GlowPlugBoy Pro 15 Syn/Castor?"
===============
The description on the page says
15% nitro methane, 20% oil content with 18% Synthetic and 2% Castor lubricant for general purpose use in all 2-cycle and especially 4-cycle model airplane engines.
===============
The picture of the label says 9% castor and 9% synthetic.

Hi Carrell,

I'm going to give this 20/20 a try. Money-back guarantee, why not? Powermaster is off the radar, and I have exactly 3/4ths of a gallon left....I'd call it crunch time.

If you found the site, could you post a link here?

Thanks,

Jimbo

The web address is in glowplugboy's reply, but he has a comma after www instead of a period so you have to change it to a period if you copy/paste.
If you have no local fuel source it looks like a good way to go.
We currently can get Magnum, Morgan, Wildcat, Ritch's Brew, Byron, and SIG (possibly more) at multiple local shops.

We're losing one of our bigger shops here. If we had Wildcat I'd be a happy camper. It's always a pain when you have the fuel you like and either you move to where they don't have it, or the provider goes belly-up. In my case, the first happened, I found the second and then THAT happened.

I'm sure I'll find something, it's just a pain to have to start again, and again.....

lol.....***SIGH***

Thanks for helping with the link. I went there, and I looked under "prices, and then I went to 20/20 and then clicked on the photo and the individual bottle came up with the percentages, that photo was the right one for the 20/20.

The price is right, I can probably finish out this year with a 3-gallon case. I'll look around for reviews, if nothing too bad comes up, I'll give it a shot.

Our website desperately needs updating..... so much to do and so little time. There are some shipping cost increases as well not updated there. As for our 15% that is an old picture. Our 15% has, as described, 18% synthetic, 2% castor lube package. We sell most of our product on that "other auction site" under my handle, Glowplugboy. Do a search for "glow fuel" or "glowfuel". No HAZMAT fees shipping in quarts. As you are in Texas, I would discount the 12 quart case shipping costs to $20.00. And of course, State Sales Tax.

I've gotten word that Powermaster may NOT be gone, more along the lines of restructuring. I'm not really sure what that means, except it would indicate that maybe I should back off and give them some time to do that.

Sounds reasonable. And I really hope things work out okay.

I've gotten a number of mails from folks saying that they couldn't get fuel either, but nothing else concrete about it.

I guess it's time to wait and see.

Yeah, SIG fuel is excellent too. I haven't seen that round here either. I can mail order from them if need be, but GlowPlugBoy Fuels is right here in the Houston area and has a money-back guarantee, so I'm gonna try them out for mail-order. One of the reasons I first tried Powermaster was because they are local, not more than an hour and a half or so from me. GlowPlugBoy (Boy, that it TOUGH to type that name!) is the next closest. Since there is this hiccup in the normal supply I'm going to try some. In the meantime my hobby dealer dug around and found me a couple of cans of Powermaster Heli blend (30% Nitro, 23% oil) that should do a good job. A few guys had already recommended Heli blends to me as a viable alternative.

Jimbo
I live right outside of Fort Worth, a long way from the Power Master home. I believe Pasadena is close to Houston. I was just surmising the possible out come. I sincerely hope Power Master is still in business but I have seen business fold for a lack of leadership and care. People die and things change. That's life!

Cheers,

Chip

Have used Byrons, Richs Brew, Power Master, Morgans (Omega) and others. All have been just fine to me.

Cheers,

Yeah, I'm fussy about my fuels, I don't like fuels that leave the plane a holy gooey mess, there's no reason for that with today's technology. Obviously, no matter what happens, nature abhors a vacuum (I don't like vacuuming much either) and somebody else will fill the void. Sometimes they fill the void and take the place outright. Either way, I'll still be flying.

Well I started this thread, and I should be the one to start winding it down.

I received a call from POWERMASTER today!

A very nice guy named Mike called me.. One of the main folks from the office had been in a serious accident, and things halted while they figured out what to do. They're back up and running now ( I didn't find it whether that was WITH or WITHOUT that person back at work), and he has been making calls to let the folks who called and left messages know about it.

***WHEW****....(My Saitos are breathing a sigh of relief!)

That is some good news.

I tried calling them yesterday, and got an answering machine, which by itself isn't unusual. I'll try again today.

We've got a big swap meet going on today that our club is putting on, so I'll have to do it between other things.

well this explains why it took so long to see PM at my LHS. the manager had a bunch on order and said it finally came from somewhere back in the north east that had some stock.

bought 12 gallons of 15%, but no 20/20 for my YS to be had.

sad when family problems kill a good company like this.
