I ordered the plans from RCM yesterday and plan on documenting my build of this plane. Will be going gas with this, a g38 or something along those lines. This will be my first build from scratch and am looking forward to the build. May be awhile before I get started as RCM says 3-4 weeks delivery on the plans themselves. Does anyone out there have a materials list of the wood etc. Would like to start ordering parts and pieces soon.
Thanks

I have one of these started too! I will be using a converted Homelite 33cc saw engine (did it myself) for power. Looks to be a really neat, simple plane. Please post pics!!!!

Ok, Ordered all the wood last night from National and Lonestar. I had to get some stuff from Lonestar because National didn't have 3" tapered sheet for the Ailerons.
That caused me to have to split the order between the two and pay extra shipping. Oh well still came in around $100.00 bucks, I guess thats not so bad.
I'm still searching for an engine for this. Would like to use a G-38 but my budget is streched pretty thin on this. Looking for a weed wacker conversion if anyone out there has a GOOD one.

Please continue with your updates on this plane. I would enjoy seeing lots of build pics as well. I have only framed up the tail feathers and got the fuse sides ready to go. I got caught up in other plane projects and set this one aside for now but I will deff. finish it at some point! Good luck!!

I will definitely document the build. This looks like it's going to be a fast build once I get rolling. I have a Pica Waco to finish up and then I will get rolling on the Rebel.
I went and picked up a door this morning from a friend of mine. A nice solid core heavy as all get out one. Should last me a long time and build many a straight wing.

Just an update. I almost have my Waco ready for a maiden but it looks like Sunday will be pretty windy here, so may start on the Rebel this weekend. All the wood has arrived and will start going through it and sorting it out.
BTW, I really like Lonestar Balsa! They forgot my adhesive and a few sticks on the first shipment so I called them up. No problem they said, shipped it the next day. I also had them cut me some special size tapered stock that they don't normally carry and they wouldn't let me pay for it. They gave it to me free because they felt bad about the order! Now that's customer service.

Next I needed to cut a hole in 12 of the ribs for the tubes that the servo wires run through. I had some MonoKote tubes on hand and decided that's better then buying some and they are smaller than paper towel rolls.
I marked each rib so when I build the wing I will have them all facing the same direction and the tube will slide in easier.

Your Rebel is looking good so far.
Looking forward to seeing your pics as the building progresses. Sometimes with kits you have a couple of pieces that don't quite match...or perhaps not a tight fit of some balsa pieces. Here's a little trick you may want to try. For instance if you want to fill-in some space at a joint and add strength. Pack some baking soda into the joint...hold the balsa pieces together and use thin or medium CA glue. The baking soda will absorb the CA and make an indestructible bond which will be many times stronger than the balsa or other building material. If it ever breaks...it won't break at the glue joint. Unlike epoxy, this method will add almost zero weight.
Best Regards

After I glued in the H-stab mounting plate I checked to see how level the stab was. It was off a little bit but after a little sanding it was straight as an arrow.
After checking that, I moved on to epoxying the hardwood corners in behind F1 and adding the triangle stock in all the proper locations. Also glued in the LG block and epoxied the tank floor.

Then it was on to gluing the cross grain balsa to the bottom aft of F3. I left off the top for now as I will be mounting the elevator servos outside. the fuse. I will need to add hardwood for the mounting rails inside. I am also going to set up pull-pull on the rudder and am still thinking about where the servo will be located. I may make an access hatch between F4 and F5 and stick it in there.
I also pinned in the firewall with 1/8 inch dowel. There is NO WAY that is coming apart unless it gets help from dumb-thumbs and terra firma!

Hey, Thanks! I'm really excited about how much I got done this weekend. The plane goes together really fast. I've put together ARF's that took longer than this.
I stopped last night after joining all the spars and dry fit the ribs onto them. Need to make a jig to square everything up on the table and I should have a wing in a few days.
