Default New Lehner 3080/5 HiAmp LK "Twin Wind-12 connection"

Lehner 3080/5 HiAmp LK motor with twin parallel winds allowing for two controllers to drive the motor. Please note: the Schulzes shown in the pics are not available with the motor. Motor kv is 1050 in Delta and 600 in Wye.

The dual wind motors have parallel sets of motor "turns" for each phase of the motor. For example if you have a 5 turn motor and 20 strands per turn, you just split the 20 strands into 10 strands and add a second pair of connections in parallel. So if you connected adjacent wires on this motor it's like connecting all 20 strands back together and you have 6 connections like the normal 30 series motors.

You don't need two controllers for this motor. You can easily solder or connect the pairs of six wires together and then decide if you want to connect the six leads as a Delta or Wye. I would advise anyone considering to use this motor to connect it in Wye for a KV around 600 and run 10 cells or more with a 250A-400A controller. A MGM 25063 or 40063 would pair nicely with the motor.

Don't be scared by the extra connections. I can always connect the wires in any configuration once purchased if the buyer requests this.

Based on the asking price, I assume that there is something special about this motor. What is it good for?

Yes, a normal 3080 motor has 6 connections on the end which allow the user to connect to the ESC via Delta(triangle) or Wye (star).
This 3080 has each of three phases split in half and all the connections are brought out to the end.
As an example, assume each phase has 5 turns and 20 strands in hand. Normally the 20 strands are twisted and brought out the end, one where it starts and one where it ends.
In this motor, the 20 strands are split into 10+10. Instead of 6 ends coming out, there are 12. If you connected the adjacent pairs together it would resemble the 6 connections electrically speaking.
The idea behind this motor was to allow twin ESC's to drive very high currents for high output. A typical 3080/5 connected in Delta on 10S can pull close to 1000A. Splitting the current into two paths would allow more available controllers to be used.
