Default Because it's an auction

Hello

Since I did it today, let me tell you why.

The selling process in RCuniverse, RCO and other boards is a fixed price. The ebay mechanism is auction. Auction works best if you are not sure what its the right price. It works poor if people don't know it's being sold. That's why you see post in here.

I find hard to believe the board or any of it's visitor is being damaged by this.

I'm curious if these board is going to become one with many rules.....

Regards,
Edgar

Default E-bay

Your probably a great guy Edgar, but we need more items here to choose from..If you think e-bay is best then just sell it there..Simple as that..Just my 2 cents..Brian

Default Now that I think about it...

Hi

I will say that as a courtesy, maybe those who link to ebay should be required/expected to start the title with "FA" or "FA Ebay" or "EBAY".
That way people don't lose their time and bandwidth by clicking on it, if they are not interested.

Just an idea...

Regards,
Edgar

PD: I'm really a nice guy...

Default E-Bay slot

Now that sounds like a plan for all...Make a seperate slot for all items listed on e-bay with out cluttering up the main board..Brian

Ok, just saw this post late tonight here 1:30am. Was out this afternoon taking a break so I could think with a nice fresh mind. My view on anything and philosophy is that if it adds to the value of the end user experience it is a good thing. With that in mind we need to take ideas and make them work to achieve this goal. I'll admit, most of you guys will love me cuz I've been a rule breaker all my life so to speak. I mean this in a way that when it's broke I will find a way to fix it and do it any way possible. You will see lots of that from this site. Think it's that Outback ad "no rules, just right"

Now as it applies to this topic if a user goes into a forum, let's say a for auction forum and they know the items there are all for auction (ebay or whatever) than that is by their choice to view the item and they know the circumstances that it is being sold under. Helping buyers here. On the seller side it gives them a place to put their ad for more exposure. Another good thing. With a seperate forum I can't see how anything but good can come of it from both users perspective.

With this in mind I will setup an exclusive auction forum listing section here and we will try it out and see where the dust settles. If it goes good then we can keep it and improve where necessary. If it doesn't work for some reason we can scrap it. Sometimes you just have to go with what will make sense and see where it takes you. As long as your willing to pull the plug when it doesn't work or make it even better when it does work.

If there are ideas on how to "word" the forum description to make it clear how it should be used post it up here and we'll take a consensus and run with it. Isn't democracy great?????????

Default Auction board

Hi All,

Let me congratulate the admin/moderators for their positive approach to the issue.

An auction only board seems a reasonable compromise. The only downsize is that right now the forums are logically separated (e.g. Engines, Kits, etc). Replicating the whole thing seems too much complexity (e.g. ForSale Engines - Non auction, For Sale Engines - Auction). The alternative of putting all auctions in only one forum, may make it very hard to scan if you only want to find, let's say an engine.

Don't know if the software allow you to set-up something like:
For Sale Engines --> Sticky link to auctions --> auction threads
--> {Normal threads}

In other words, If i'm buying an engine, I click in the proper for sale forum. If I don't care for auctions, I look at the normal threads. If auctions are OK, the I can further click on the auction link to see the engines auctions.

Just an idea. In any case thanks!

Regards,
Edgar

PD: You won't believe me, but the auctions I started recently where my first ones..

Default WAYYY TO Much to ask..!!!

All auction items should go one one board/spot..man you'll over laod the whole system with all that you suggest..Easy for you to suggest it tho..Maybe you could pay for all the software and manpower to set up and run/control it...Brian

Roger,

Good idea. I can probably do something like that. Will work on it. Would make things easier. It may also not be trouble to "mirror" the headings under the auction forum but of course be used just for auctions.

In the meantime until the forum fills up a bit we can use it as a catch all but once activity in there grows it will be useful to segment so users can find things easier.

Default Other boards

I have some items on several other boards that I'm closing out and moving here..maybe I should just try to send buyers to those boards instead..Would that make any sense?? I don't think so....Another of my 2 cents worth...Brian

Just a philisophical statement here so you all know what happens when we make changes or improvements. Nothing is ever set in stone. We may try things that some of you agree may work well or may not. Sometimes it will be thrown out for the trial by fire. The best part about the way I work is that if something isn't going in the right direction I will admit I'm wrong and change course 180 degrees instantly if necessary. This way you limit damage on the downside and set the ship right quickly. Change and adaptation are crucial.

I think until the listings get large, very frequent or unruly we can have the one auction forum. If 50 posts a day come in at some point the benefit of stratifying things will be useful and I don't mind making it happen if it makes the end user expereience that much better here.
