Last night I got a PM from teebox11 that stated the following;

Awaiting reply as to whether you intend to purchase as you stated in your pm of 2-72-07 in which you stated you were mailing payment for same the next morning, and which we have not received. Please advise asap as there are others who are ready to purchase.

I sent a reply:


I have no idea who you are or what you are selling. I have no intentions nor have I had any intentions of purchasing any models from you or anyone else on RCU.

Then, at 1:27 AM I get this PM

You made a commitment to buy this pair of Blue Angels aircraft. I have retained all e-mails from you since you first made the offer to buy, to include requests for the address to send the payment and the statement of the payment being sent. You will now be posted as a non-payer, fraud. A complaint will be filed with RCU along with the copies of your e-mails commiting to this purchase and then not fulfilling your contract for purchase. This will now become a public post so no one else will fall for your fraudulent offers to buy


So then I just sent this reply:

As I stated in response to your previous e-mail, I have no idea who you are or what you are selling. I have no intent or never had any intent to purchase anything from you. Please cease and desist from this......you are confused.

So THEN I get an e-mail from RCU that someone has made a comment about the A-7 Video at 8:32 AM. I went to the link and found this from opeylopy:

Soooo, I responded:

You are a vile and despicable person. Legal action to follow...................

I went to "catchaperv.com" and found a site that lists pedophiles....................

So, Now what do I do? I'm not concerned about the model purchase thing since there are no bonafide e-mails from me about that.

I just checked the RCU member list and teebox11 is a valid member....just confused.

opeylopy is not listed as a RCU member.........How did this person post a comment on the video page??

cactusflyer, i have been concerned ever since seeing your thread about teebox11. he is a flying bud of mine. ha has been in and out of the hospital a lot lately from side affects from throat cancer. he spends a lot of time at the va hospital. i was worried he had gone off the deep end over night when pm'ing you. i was certain he had the wrong rcu user. so i called him today and he said you had pm'd him multiple times wanting to purchase a byron at6 (blue angel scheme) and a yellow f18 (blue angel scheme) as well. he closed the add when you pm'd and said check was on the way. he has received no check. i was certain he had you confused with another person, as you clearly stated in this very thread that you have no idea of what he was talking about. so while speaking with him on the phone, i asked him for his rcu password and i personally viewed the many pm's you have had with him in the past, and one states you wish to purchase these two models and another says the check is on the way. the pm's were there as plain as the nose on my face, and furthermore i welcome a moderator in this forum to purge the pm's from teebox11's inbox and paste them here for all to see. don, nor myself know how to do this. so either someone has your user name and is making purchases in your name or well you know the second. if you have changed your mind for whatever reason and do not wish to purchase these models from don, no bigee. he will relist them. but to publicly start a thread and call him out as a confused man is over the top. he is a purple heart vet who has been ill a lot lately and he doesnt need this stress. an apologee in this thread is in order. by the way, on a lighter note, i love your a7 and was a follower of the build thread. so i guess that is why i am so dissapointed. barry

The mods can not read another members PM. You can do a cut and past if you deem it necessary to post it here in the public forum.

We all need to keep in mind that anytime we log on from a public computer, we need to log off of RCU when we are finished. If you don't, the next person that goes to RCU from that computer can do whatever they want and it will look like you did it.

vincent, i am willing to give john the benefit of the doubt. someone clearly is pm'ing under his name. and making offers as well. maybe a password change is in order. don is an honest guy and doesnt need the stress right now. barry

A little CSI work here is in order......I have met John in passing while flying in AZ in the past and like my friend Vin who knows and flys with him regularly, I feel he is a first class guy, definite turbine geek like the rest of us, a pilot for America West, who communicates both verbally and in writing in proper English......I also follow allot of his posts since I also have a couple of Wren Turbines......

Carefully read John's posts for the last year or so...

-He rarely, if ever uses exclamation points
-He never fails to capitalize his (i)
-He uses periods (.) appropriately
-He does not use bad English grammar as most of those PM's demonstrate.....

And then there is that weird reference to a Pedophile URL.......

No doubt in my mind that Don and John have been scammed.....

tom, couldnt agree more. i find the "will pick up on the 24th" the best. he is in arizona and don is here in houston. im sure he was just going to just drive over one afternoon and pick the stuff up. otherwise i am clueless. if it is not john, then someone has cactusflyer's password. barry

I think what we are seeing here is a new way of scamming RCU members. Find someone with a good reputation (John aka Cactusflyer) and make the purchases in his name. Then show up to pick up the merchandise and pay with a fake check. The seller thinks he is dealing with a respected member of the RCU community, and will in most cases be OK with accepting a check.

Very clever.

Question is, are the RCU passwords secure enough or what can be done to avoid scenarios like this?

This is scary. But then again, had the guy using the cactus flyer ID sent a check for $5100, what next? If the check is good.......

Trust me---Marc can find the IP address of the culprit if enough investigating is conducted.... [>:]...From there it wouldn't take long to find out who this person is...

To All, I just got back home form the Doc and I got released to go back to work....Hooray!

I'll try to address as many of the comments as I can.

When a guy accuses ME of fraud, I WILL respond with no hesitation.....Whether he is a vet or not. As Vin stated, I have no interest in buying any airplanes right now prop or jet. I have been on short term disability with a bad disc for two months and the funds are a little tight. Any "extra" cash will go towards something that burns Jet-A or at least some scale landing gear for the A-7.
My only conclusion since I have no suspicion of foul play by teebox11 was that he must be confused....that's not over the top. Now that I know more info.................I would like to apologize to teebox11 as this is obviously not the fault of either of us.

I have not logged onto another computer other than my home for the last couple months since I have been living on the floor of my bedroom during that time.....Obviously, I need to make a password change.

Tom, I'll try not to hold it against you and possibly even forgive you, but I work for AMERICA WEST AIRLINES not SWA....I have had my cowboy boots in storage since Urban Cowboy left the shelves at the video store.

Congratulations on been released to go back to work, I know the feeling, I went trough the same situation years ago, it scary to think that you can't get your medical back because a small medical thing.
