Default Picture Problem

Being new and my first night on RC Universe I'm having a problem attaching a picture. When I attach a picture to my message the picture doesn.t show up only the attached file does. This is a problem because a lot of people wouldn't open a unknown file. How can I put the picture with my message? I tried to paste one but no luck.

Thanks for any help.

Check the user control panel first to see what your viewing option is set to:

Show image attachments and [img] code in Posts?
Selecting no will show a hyperlink instead.

If set to show the image then make sure your image is a jpg or gif (jpg is usually better) and it should show up...if it is a bmp file it may only show as attachment.

LMK if this helps.

I think i fugured out that my pics are too big,... I always take my pics with high resolution.. I re-shot my pics on low res, they seemed to work fine then.. I like to take them at a hight res, cause you get good prints.. I guess i need to decide what pics i want to print & what pics i want to e-mail... Thanks for the help!!!

computer screens are around 72 dpi which is lower than the resolution you need to print them...you can also shrink your hi-res pics using software so they fit here...limits are 75k and 650x650 pixels.

rcadmin your post states that there is a 75k limit on file size but when I try to post a 71k file I am told file is too big and that the limit is 70k...how do I lower my file size my camera is set to its lowest settings already...is there a way to increase the limit a bit???sounds like I'm not the only one with this problem
Thanks

Take the picture and dont worry about the resolution on your camera. If you have a way of re-sizing the image make the image 500x375 pixels. If you have no way of re-sizing it, e-mail me the picture, I will re-size it and send it back to you ready for RCU use. I can make any size from avatar size to thread image size.

You should check out www.tucows.com and the program for free there called "irfanview" which is a nice image editor that you can use to resize things....the size limit will say what it is next to the upload button section along with pixel limits always so if they ever change (may have from that early post) the info is there. You can get a beautiful crisp jpg picture at 650x650 under 50k even...even less...the original must be clean of course...
