Default Acceptable Selling Practice

I have noticed an increase in specific selling activity I believe maybe against the RCU rules. Lately I have witnessed several of these “sales”.

Typically the seller offers an item at a discounted price, then waits for the scores of buyers to frantically “bid up” the item’s selling price. Two recent examples are ************** $35 includes shipping and ************** $25 includes shipping. There is a huge difference between the asking price (opening bid) and final price.

Please check the initial asking prices, look at the various offers, then check the final selling price for yourself.

In my opinion the seller is running an RCU auction selling to the highest bidder when he decides the bid is high enough.
Looks like a scam to me....but you decide. At least you are now aware of this marketplace activities.

Thank you for reporting this. Please note neither of the ads mentioned (ad #'s have been removed from this thread) are marked as sold to any RCUniverse members. The seller did post these ads are sold to a non-member, but the amount listed does not match any offers posted for these ads. Just the same, I will keep an eye on the seller in the event other odd ads are posted.

Hello John,

I don't think you investigated these complaints adequately.
If you would check the RCU market value for each engine, you would see the selling price was $120 for each......that's 4-5 times the asking price. I know selling prices are the same ads based on the sold dates plus the seller descriptions "Price includes shipping".
So apparently he did not sell to an RCU member, but does that negate the problem ? Have you contcted this member to check or are you choosing to ignore this type of selling conduct?

regards,
Bill.

Bill,
Again, those amounts were posted by the seller but do not necessarily mean that is what he sold them for. Those are only prices he posted when he marked the ads sold to non-members. For all we know he may have sold the engines locally for $25.00 - 30.00 or even decided to hold on to them himself.

I am not ignoring your report, nor did I suggest that's what I would do. Yes, I have sent an email to the seller but have not yet received a response from him.

Please remember that we are not here to cast judgement on a single report of abuse but instead feel the best course is to get the story from all of those involved before making a decision as to whether or not wrong has been committed.
