i just bought a new superbrain 960 charger on monday. and i get home and open the box. only to notice gaps between where the 2 halves of the charger are held together by screws. i notice the screws were not tight at all so i decide to open it up to make sure everything was OK and nothing was broken. well when i flipped the board over i noticed the white ceramic looking thing that is soldered to the board and it is cracked. upon further inspection i saw that this piece had been installed in a way that hits the LCD screen electronics. causeing it to crack the ceramic piece. when i went to flip the main board back over to reinstall it. half the ceramic piece fell off and this white powder fell out everywhere. i thought...***? i just bought this thing and im not driving the 45 min to return it...and they wouldnt believe me anyway. i put the piece that fell off back on just sitting on there and put it all back together the way i got it... with the screws loose and the gaps there. i decided to plug it in and try it. and it still works. im just worried about the broken piece heating up and starting a fire or blowing up my batteries or me. should i return it? my LHS will just tell me that it still works so its fine... they wont believe me about the piece.

Sorry for the delay, I was waiting on my engineer. He tells me that if the charger is still working, then the rsistor is still working. If the resistor is bad, then the charger wouldn't work. However, I can understand that you have a brand new charger with a bad component inside, and it shouldn't be that way. Do you have any other chargers to use or is this your only one?

this is the first charger ive bought. i had a TRX powercharger but it just stopped charging batteries...? i was at my local track and a guy had one of these and i liked it so i bought one...but yes this is the only charger i have.

Here's what I would probably do. I would charge up all of your batteries first, or pick a time when you know you won't be racing, and then send the charger in to me. Put it to my attention: TIM - URGENT and I'll turn it around as quicklty as I can.
