Hello all
I got the Litehawk II in February, and it's a blast. This isn't my 1st heli, so I just needed to get used to flying this one. Still, I am a beginner pilot, and I just mastered a bunch of hovers. I'm still practicing with landing, as I want to get more precise hovering into the target LZ with realistic landing. The only thing I didn't like about it was that the tail fins didn't match the color of the rest of the heli. I solved that problem and painted them to match, and it now looks great!
Anyway, I browsed through this forum and found some good resources about mods and other tips and tricks. I lightened up the airframe, using one of the guides posted here on this forum. I kept the front tail fin and didn't trim the front battery plate. I instead re-mounted the battery all the way up against the back edge of the plate, and I also cut the pins on the collar and front fin, so that I can slide the whole assy front and back along the tail boom to fine-tune its CG.
I may not have gotten the best battery when I picked this up - before the mod, I would have flight times of only 6-7 minutes. Now, after the mod, I have flight times averaging 8-9 minutes. Keep in mind, I'm using the USB charger only to charge it, and not from the controller. Takeoff and speed have also improved, although I am now hearing some noise from the tail motor. It must be due to the lack of the tail boom support rods though.
So, anyway, I want to make some more mods of my own on this, and get the flybar replaced; I unintentionally mashed it, and did my best to make it straight again. It does the job for now, but I'm sure it'll fly smoother with a new one.
So, here's some pics - enjoy!
