Default MVVS 160 Gas

Hi Dar...I want to buy on of these engines but a little unsure if they can take a 12lb. aircraft vertical with authority.Anyone elses comments on this motor would be appreciated.Type of exhaust system used also.

Default RE: MVVS 160 Gas

Jack,

The one I have is the normal carburettor, glow version.
It is equipped with the MVVS tuned silencer #3266 (actually a full length torque pipe).

It now spins a Bolly 18x6 wood prop at about 9,000 RPM.

My 10 lb. H9 Ultra Stick Lite, on which it is installed, climbs vertically at very high speed and can easily take off by letting it go straight up. I did not measure its exact thrust, but it seems to be over 15 lbs.

I am sure the thrust will be lower with a Zinger, or a Power-Point prop.
