Hi- I'm thinking of buying a plane with a MVVS 49 as a power-plant. I don't know anything about these engines. The seller said it has about 5 hours of time on it. I understand they are made in the Czech Republic. I run 15% wildcat fuel. Is this acceptable. The reason I ask is because I was given a used MDS 48 a few years back and TRIED to run it with the 15% and it ran like garbage. Then I ran 0% and it was a screamer. Can a guy get parts/service here in the States for the MVVS?? Does anyone have input about this engine? I appreciate any help you can offer.

The .49 is a fabulous engine, but it will not like 15% nitro fuel! 0-5% nitro fuel is preferred unless the engine has a high-nitro cylinder head insert or shims under the head. As far as parts and service go, there is a US distributor as well as distributors in Canada (me) and elsewhere who can help you out.
