I know this may sound crazy, but I am planning to mount my MVVS 26cc gasser on the Hangar9 showtime. Will be running 18x6 prop with a cannister muffler. Any special precautions I should take with regards to mounting the engine? I believe that soft mounts are a big no no, and some reinforcement of the airframe may be required. Also, is the cannister type muffler the best choice, or should I stick to my 3266 pipe?

MF,
The ShowTime is a relatively small plane, which can easily be flown by an MVVS .91.
This 1.60 engine with a #3270 Pitts style muffler, would be a 1/2 kg heavier than a .91 but is also much more powerful.
With the #3266 tuned pipe you would get about 900-1,000 RPM more...
3-D (and 4-D) planes fly better, the lighter they are.
In addition to this extra nose weight, you would need some tail weight to balance it out, so the weight penalty is even bigger.
I would not select this engine, but you should suit yourself.

DarZeelon, thanks, I know that I will be flying with a heavier wingloading, but I am staying away from glow engines (just sold my MVVS 91)
I am comfortable knowing that the plane will not handle as well as it is supposed to, just worrie about other issues like vibration, etc.
Also, one of the main reasons I am using this engine is because other than my 26 and 45cc ( also had the 49, 25, and 91), the only other motors I have are electric. Just too comfortable with MVVS

MF,
The 1.60 will not vibrate any more than other engines of similar size.
It may even be smoother than other smaller engines.
Adding some strengthening to the firewall area is always recommended, as long as it does not add too much weight.
I don't think a soft mount is a compulsory item in this case.
