Should initial runs on MVVS gassers (26,35 and 58) be made with synthetic oil? I was always under the impression that running an engine from new on Synthetic would prevent the piston ring from seating properly.
Can someone clarify this for me? I don't want to start off on the wrong foot.

Meesh,
Some synthetic oils can be used for break-in.
I believe Pe can elaborate on this issue.
The MVVS 45 and 58 cc engines come, BTW, with a bottle of oil for break-in.

Thank You Dar!
I have the 26 and 35 and the 58 is on it's way to me.
Have you heard from Pe?
I've been sending him E:mails for the last couple of days about placing an order for some parts and I haven't heard back from him.

to what address did you send the mail? preivers@mvvs-nl is out of grace due to spam. I let the spammers fill the box to the brim.
Just send mail from my website.
As to the oil, and fairy tales and myth, and fiction that should be laid to rest asap.
Use the best oil available from day one! It is for that very reason MVVS includes a pint of oil (Mobil 1-2T) with their new larger gas engines. If you intend to use a different brand of fully synthetic racing two stroke oil exceeding Jaso TC class, use that oil for running in as well, so you do not have to switch oil later. The rings not seating well using the new age oils is hogwash. Excuse my strong wording. I noticed no less than 90% seating after just one quart of fuel. Rings not worn, but seated, with turning grooves still visible.
Mineral oil is inferior to fully synthetic racing two stroke oil. Hence they cause more wear, and the seating process is much rougher on a micro-scale.
The high power MVVS design is made possible by the use of these high performance synthetic oils. Serious damage may occur if lower grade oils are used. The oil film of standard garden two stroke oil cannot support the loads imposed on them, and will break down, causing micro damage, which will then quicly grow in time. The same will happen if the engine is run too hot by lack of cooling, and subsequently the hot oil film operates at reduced shear strength. Cool engines run better, longer.
BTW, MVVS is not the only brand that relies on synthetics for longevity. All cantilever Crankshaft designs do if they are to extract the advertised power. (DA, ZDZ, RCS, Roto to name a few)
A last word of warning;
Use enough oil. Best fuel economy is obtained at a mix of about 1:33. This indicates lowest internal friction. More oil did not help in this application.
Less oil resulted in an increase in fuel consumption, indicating more friction. More friction is equivalent to more wear, loss of power, and shortened engine life. It is with reason, that in their latest engine instructions, MVVS says 1:30 for running in, and 1:40 thereafter.
