My Feedback: (14)
A short while back I bought an MVVS .61 off a retailer on eBay.
The engine resembles the .61 square head engine that you have on your website, but the cylinder head is black. Are these the same engines (3090)? TIA

Hi Ed,
Yes, MVVS occasionally changes the anodizing on the heads (and now also the prop-driver).
The only difference is a cosmetic one.
Your #3090 engine has a head button head, which has always been neutral and a 'clamp' part, which is secured by the head bolts, which can be in a range of different anodized colors, or neutral.
The more important issue is the carburettor. If your engine is an older one (yellow box), it probably has the older, blunt low-speed needle carburettor, which will make the mid-range too rich. If it has a crossed screw-driver slot and an idle-stop screw, it is old.
MVVS carburettors are attractively priced. E-mail me if you think you need one.
