Rich,
The ring gap must be where the groove in the piston in is pegged; and that should be between the exhaust port and an intake bypass.
It must not be visible in the exhaust port.

The standard carb is WT561, WT481 is the 26cc carb
edit:
old 35cc engines did have the 481 carb, and for a while both engines had the same one.

Pe I just bought this motor and it was supposed to be the 35cc motor. Is there any marking on the 35cc motor? How much is the wt 561 carb? Thanks Rich

Pe Peivers Thanks for all the help. Can I expect much improvement if I go to the bigger carb WT561? The motor seems to run fine just a little short on power compared to my other MVVS 35 and it does have the 561 carb. Thanks Rich

Rich,
Did you already change the piston-ring?
Also, it take a length of time for the engine to reach optimum performance.
MVVS' glow engines are notorious for this trait and I believe PĂ© calls them 'great second season engines'...
They come into their own after 6-10 running hours, gaining several hundred RPM in the process.

Dar After pulling the motor appart , the piston was turned 180 deg. The piston and ring looked new. I didn't change the ring. The previous owner said the motor had only about a gallon and half of fuel run through it. I will get some tac readings today. Thanks Rich
