I have a question on the ignition because the instructions don't say. The plug wire has another wire that seems like a ground coming out of the cap. Is this wire needed to run? It seems like the cap should be the ground for the plug but I'm not sure. Also, do you know if this connects to the shielding on the wire as I accidentally ripped it off.

I have the Mvvs 26 IF 1.60 gasser and the ignition has 1 set of wires for the battery, 1 for lcd light, and one for the ignition pick-up.

The extra wire is an insurance, that a mass connection for the high tension spark voltage is available at all times. It may save the day for your ignition if the plug cap makes intermittent contact with the plug body.

A good crimp is better than soldering. A copperstrand wire will break at the end of the solder zone when subjected to vibration.

Pe. I have a 26-gt blu head with one magnet,my book shows 2 can you tell me why the new ignition swtiched to 2 magnets? my ignition is in a alum. box with a big blue E and black covering and 4.8 v. the unit has 4 wires, plug, batt, probe,and strobe. [ NO GROUND]. The book also states that it is very important not to turn the engine over with the ignition turned ON, unless the spark plug is insertedi in the plug socket. This could lead to ignition damage.
I take this to mean that if the very small allen set screw holding the plug cap on the plug should vibrate loose in flight or on test stand as most other fittings do at one time or another could make the ignition fail, I also noted when they came up with the new ignition they changed the plug and plug cap to a " snap on style", the way my plug connection is made , the plug ,if the set screw is tight is held in place with a little spring on one end and friction on a smooth surface on the plug, a lot like the AA bats. in a tv remote.
I am not trying to start a war but no one connected with this product that I have talked to seems to care ,has no clue, gives conflicting answers or none at all. you told me '' if it is not broken dont fix it" and I agreed at that time with out the help of what i have left of my brain, then I could see me put it in a plane and it fails then I hear " yep fou got a bad one" to bad about your plane,we can take care of that little problem for about $200.00 plus. I guess im just a old grouch but I feel better now.

The fastening type with the grub screw has proven to be without problems, and has been widely in use, also by ZDZ.
The cable shielding is the mass return, and the plug is contained in the lower and upper boot half fur ultimate shielding.
If it makes you feel better, you can put a hose clamp over the grub screw. That way it will NEVER get loose until you want it to.
In my engine, I replaced the lower boot with a brass boot with 6 slits that I made, kept in place over the upper boot by a thick O-ring. That worked well too, and there was no need for tools to get the plug cap off. There are more ways to skin that cat.
The new ignitions are not by Vlach or by Falkon, and now have a 10mm plug instead of the 14mm garden plug. These new ignitions have the Bosch type plug cap. Not because it is better, but just because. Some folks had problems with this one, because they did not push it on far enough! The old system was thus more fool-proof.

I had just got on RCU hoping to beat you to it, after sleeping on it I felt that I came on to strong and would like to apologize.
I don't no know what I expected any one to do other than throw in some ideas which you did and I appreciate that and I thank you.
