MVVS Quickie .40 motor ??
I have been told that the MVVS Quickie 500 motor can not have the cylinder rotated & get same performance.
I have been told that the MVVS regular .40 motor can have the cylinder rotated & it works fine.
Can some one tell me why. I have had the cylinder off both motors & it appears that the ports line up fine when rotated.
I have 3 new motors unrun at this point.
1 Quickie motor is a Black head & the other is a Blue head.
The regular .40 is a Red head.
I'm looking to run the GRRT .40 tuned pipe with rear position.
Can anyone fill me in on true scoop on these motors??
Thanks, Mike

RE: MVVS Quickie .40 motor ??
who told you you can't do that? There may have been a coincidence that someone tried it out with a new engine made for the USA market. These have a lower compression ratio, and need nitro. He may have obtained low reading because of not using any, not because of the rear exhaust configuration. Of course you need to know how to tune an engine with prop, nitro content and exhaust system.
Go ahead and do your thing.
edit:
quickies first had black heads, then gold, now blue.

Pe
I got the info from the RCM magazine that did a review on the MVVS Quickie engine. It stated that you couldn't rotate the cylinder on a Quickie. That was why I was curious as I have rotated my motors but not run them yet.

Pe,
Could you give me a baseline for tuning my MVVS Quickie motor. I'm running it on a Diamond Dust with the GRRT pipe. I have rotated the cylinder & added 2 head shims but haven't started it yet.
Nitro percentage ?
prop size "break-in & flying" ?
Pipe length etc. ?
Thanks, Mike
