old bearings are toast,
i need to know the bearing specs (for replacement)
should I get the original or some better ones?
i started to disassemble the engine & all i have left is the crank-shaft in the bearings
do i tap gently to disengage the shaft? then i heat engine case in oven to remove bearings?
i need some help, first time doing this
THANX, V.

Leave the shaft in, and heat the housing to about 100C. Then first tap out the front bearing (tap on wood!). The shaft will help guide the bearing.
Then tap out the rear bearing. Here again, the shaft helps guide the bearing out.
When fitting the new bearings, I usually fit the front bearing first, again using the shaft as extra guidance.
