mvvs 1.6 redhead?
I notice on my red-head engine today-I had removed the muffler and looking into the exhaust port at the piston-several vertical fine scratches on the side of the black piston-the engine runs great although it was involved in a moderate crash several flights ago. Do I have a problem -thanks on any advice jim

RE: mvvs 1.6 redhead?
Jim,
Since you say your engine runs great, those fine scratches are not an issue.
The piston is graphite coated for long life and a good seal.
Had those scratches been large, to the point of causing a real compression leak, past the ring, power would have been down and starting would have been much more difficult.
Models engines are typically not equipped with an air filter, so particles of dust and grit can be sucked in through the carburettor.
But unless you are flying in the middle of a sand-storm, in the Middle-East, or in Australia (or a similar very gritty condition), it would not be of any real consequence to your engine.
