Looking at getting a ultimate 40 S so I can haul a bipe around in the car. Can anyone tell me any comments on this plane. I have put together one of their marie mustangs so I already know about their manuals. I have a OS 46 fx to put on it. If you are using a OS 46 what prop did you find best? Did you use micro servos? Was their anything you had to change on assembly or after flying? Your comment would be appreciated.
Thanks

There are several threads on this plane here. Check them out.
Yes the .46 AX, or T.H. .46 or GMS .47 are quite powerful engines for this plane. It originally was a .30 sized plane made slightly larger.
I've tried various props from the 13x4 on down. My preference is the 11x6 APC.
This makes the plane FAST and agile. The extra speed improves roll rates and assures no problems on approach.
The plane uses MINI not MICRO servos. The Hobbico High Torque or the Tower Pro High Torque Mini works quite well for the ailerons, though you may have to shave off a little wood to get them to fit.
I use full 140% travel on the aileron servo after cutting things out as indicated to permit additional travel. I'm getting just over an 1.24 inch of aileron travel which has vastly improved the roll rates w/o entering a snap.
If you find that the plane loops out of round and you wings and tail are fairly square (within 1/8") then INCREASE or DECREASE the elevator travel. This happens because both sides are not stalling out at the same instant. Increasing the travel causes both wings to stall out more quickly. While decreasing the travel prohibits the stall, giving you rounder but bigger loops.
Re: change.
I answered this in the main RTF/ARF forum. There are several things you should do to improve the plane greatly. These are minor and easy to do items.
BTW: I used these [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVPROFIL=++&FVSEARCH=LXLGN7&FVPROFIL=++&s earch=Go]CLICK ME![/link] tail wheel assemblies.
Check out the price!
These are MUCH better than the included tail wheel and are suitable for .40's up to 1.00's.
