crashed yak-54 fiberglass
first let me start by saying, in know way am i dogging you are this model. i was out flying the yak 54 (50 size) fiberglas this mornig. i was flyin straight an level when it just nosed over and augered in. after checking the radio and looking at the damage it looks like the cause was in the elevator push rod. the set screw that hold the wire into the plastic insert looks like it backed out and was totally misin. i did put this screw in with red thread lock.
but like i said i'm not dogging it, in fact i plan on purchasin another before the month is over. i thank you again for all your support and i appreciate you sending me the free cowl for it when i was the one who messed up the one that came with the kit. keep up the good work.
thank you
pete

RE: crashed yak-54 fiberglass
Sorry to hear about your crashed plane.
Vibration frequently causes what happened to your plane.
I find that it's a good idea to file a flat spot where the set screw sits. It doesn't have to be exact, just enough so that should the screw loosen a bit, etc. the rod will stop travelling out or in.
Typically a 1/8" flat area is more than enough.
