Default RE: Sea Fury .60 total piece of crap!!!

Been busy with work and the holiday season lately.

Will hopefully get some more work done on the Sea Fury this weekend.
Trying to figure out a weight issue at the moment.
Did the CG and it turned out I would need close to 500 odd grams of weight to balance the plane! All weight needed on the nose.

Shifting the engine forward 1/2" has helped. But I am going to have to start moving servo's etc forward to try and get the rest of the weight issue sorted.

Have already pulled the flap servo's out as I dont need them on our strip. And changed the heavy duty steel wing hold down bolts with nylon Dubro wing hold down bolts.
That and the engine shift have got it down to 350 grams needed to balance.

Battery and throttle servo will be mounted on the firewall too. Already have a pull-pull rudder and a carbon fibre elevator pushrod.
Not much else I can do to get weight out of the tail seeing as its a fibreglass fuse.

Is that with the larger(1.2) motor? Hope you get it sorted out.

Thats just by shifting the existing .90 ASP 4 stroke.

I would get a bigger engine, but cashflow at the moment isnt great.

So will see what is needed to shift stuff around and keep the .90 in it for now.

Ok Update.

After much thought and careful consideration I have decided to fit an RCGF 26cc gas plane to the Seafury.

This will give me the nose weight I need and will allow me to swing a more scale prop.
Still have to wait til I can get the cash to get an opto-kill switch for the ignition and then I can complete the plane.

I was trying to shift the .90 4 stroke forward to get the CG closer, but even at 1" forward it still required 375g of weight.
With the gasser I can fit the cowl closer to standard (and scale) on the fuse and still run flap servo's.

Will be using a 3600mAh NiMH pack for the RX and servo's and a 4 cell Sanyo Eneloop NiMH pack for the ignition. This gives me more options for shifting weight around as well. I might go back to a 1600mAh NiMH pack for the RX if possible. More weight savings.

I have since come across other people on the forums who have fitted gas engines to this model and from all reports it is an awesome plane in the air.

Will be a few weeks til I maiden it.
I will report back then.

All up weight I have guesstimated will be around the 10lb (4.5kg) mark.
Not too shabby considering the size of the plane and fibreglass fuse etc.
